Re: My 18 y/o wants a viper,I said NO,well almost

My son works for me in my shop,He uses my 01 as a parts runner.I can tell you that he Knows Vipers in and out in fact the only car in the shop thats not a viper is his,The install is 100% his with some minor fitmant coaching and welding by Dad,he built the the one we pulled out, nothing wrong with it other than the name on the valve covers, plus of course it got about 5 miles to a gallon,so we did the swap for pure economic reasons(more practical)well at least thats what we tell mom(wife)not that she buys it.Of course hes been warned ,fist ticket and the next motor swap will be a PT cruiser

What kind of car is it?

What type of tranny is it mated to?

I have a 65' Chevy truck that I have restored with a turbo 400. Wonder if that combo would work. :usa:

89 RS Camaro conv.fact 5 speed, now 6 speed via T-56,this was no easy swap to say the least, lots of planning and modifications, incl frame, steering, motor mounts, tran mount, complete harness w/comp.,driveshaft,lots of cutting and welding, but of course we were looking for perfection,we can now close the hood with no scoop or mods to hood

Can't wait to hear how the thing runs. I am sure it will have a host of Elite goodies on it as well.

That would be nice....I remember an old MT mag that had a picture of a [******] PT Cruiser called the PT Crusher....I think it was a 650r motor he was gonna put in there and make it mid engined...Sounded like a sweet idea..But to the best of my knowledge he never got around to doing this.....I wonder why ;) ......

Im surprised DC dindnt do a one-off PT with the Viper V10 seeing as how they did the Tomahawk bike...

ps I forgot you cant use curse words on this site...No more H words for me :D

If that were anyone else saying 'out with the bad, I would have called SNOB!' However being that your calling it that way, Its most respectable. That is a beautiful install. However, are you aware that you can gain 8-10 HP just by repainting the car Blue w/2 White Stripes?! :p :D

Cheers,

This motor swap was not done for power as the one we pulled out was a small block stroker and lacking none of the power of a stock Viper Motor, not to mention cost of building a SBC, pennys on the dollar. My Son and i are very close and share a deep Viper passion, and go to all shows and events together. At this point in his life a Viper is not practical or economical for him. Also I am a firm believer in values and working hard for what you have,I would not be much of a father to allow him to have one at this point in his life, this is just a unique project.oh yeah, blue with white stripes will be next
