If I were inclined to stir the ***, I might ask:

Nitrous: Supplementary air, comes from an auxiliary tank you have to fill up.

Methane: Supplementary fuel, comes from an auxiliary tank you have to fill up.

Is there a difference in principle here?

If I were inclined to stir the ***, that is.

John, I still have the 3.55 gears with taller tires.

I'm just mad because you won't come up here and teach me how to drive. :) And just in case anyone else reading this was wondering, Tony is my buddy, and he is one hell of a driver (obviously).

3.55's. Are you making the 4-5 shift? Just wondering...I didn't know you could trap that high in 4th, even with 28"ers. If you are going 4-5, that's even more impressive.

4th gear. According to the data logging I went through at 6075 rpm. I don't know how accurate that is with the tach at the high rpm. It sounded pretty tight. My rpm cut off was at 6250, if it hit that limiter it was real smooth.

FWIW, 140.78mph @ 6075rpm in 4th would calculate out to a 27.64" tire.

141.36mph @ 6075rpm came out to 27.755" tall rear tire.

The 6075 was at 147 mph. Does your formula take tire growth into account ?
I figured (once upon a time) that my 3.55's and a 28" tire was almost the same as 3.33's and a 26" tire. I know of at least one car that has been in the 150 mph area with 3.33's and a 26" tire.
We are assuming the logging software is correct on the rpm, but I am fairly certain I did not hit the limiter which was set at 6250.

The formula reveals the tire diameter at given speed and RPM, unless there was tire or clutch slippage throwing off the the rpms, the strip MPH timing equipment was off etc...

I'd say the formula is absolute once the variables are plugged in, if that known data (rpm, mph, overall gear ratio) is correct.

There wouldn't be any need for tire growth allowances. That is the mathematically derived tire diameter (if you were in 4th) at the speed and rpm indicated.

TireDiameter = (MPH x OAGR x 336) div by RPM

(OverAllGearRatio = trans gear ratio x rear axle gear)

Thanks buddy. I'm sure it's got a 148.7 mph pass in it  My stick is long (but it has been known to break every now and then) :D
