Why the mixed emotions?

Do you mind me asking what you are raising $ for?

Did you consider selling any/all of these cars privately?

Mixed emotions, because the car is a great car. Vipers are amazing! Not that these are investments, but I feel strongly the market will recognize how important/great these cars are. I'll be the guy saying, "I had one when..."

I'm not really targeting anything with the funds. I am trying to reduce the collection. It is too much work/effort to keep the cars. I'd like a few less things to have a little more time. The reeality of having 10 special interest cars is that it requires a fair amount of time to care for them properly. It's a lot of oil changes, radiator flushes, tire inflation etc. Even to run them once a month (which I do) takes about 3 1/2 hours. Of course you have to do that on the best/dry days too. I know, I know, first world problems.

I did consider selling privately and I may end up doing that in the future if it does not sell at Mecum. We live near Seattle where the auction is. I was going to go to the action anyway. I'll be driving the Viper there. So what the heck. Expensive entertainment.

Per the Mecum site, lot 139 ('96 B/W Viper) got to $43,000 and did not sell ("The bid goes on" in Mecum-speak).

So,
How did the car Auction go ? Did you sell it, ? Good price, ?
No I did not. Did not meet my reserve.

Auction was a good one for buyers. There were a lot of good deals to be had.

I'm keeping the GTS. It is such a good car that is easy to care for and pretty dang bullet proof. Plus it is such a landmark car. Breakthrough performance for the time, that is a great performer to this day and before all the legislative nannies were mandated. It's a car that can never be made again. I'm glad to stay in the viper nation. All the thumbs up on the drive home from the auction helped to affirm the decision.

I sold three cars from my collection, so it is whittled down a bit. More time for the Viper!

My guess would be no. Most auctions will let the seller pull their reserve

Correct. I would not let it go for less than $50K. It's a 1- condition car they only made 1,166 of (96GTS). There are only two or three on the market at any given time if that.

Now you have to kiss and make up with her and beg for forgiveness.

Maybe a coolant flush and oil change followed by a professional detailing. That should do it. ;)
