Just got approved for collector plate by ICBC [ insurance corporation of British Columbia ] speciality vehicles underwriter collector vehicle program. The number of cars can't exceed 1500 total of all models produced for the year, must be 15 yrs old or older. I'll probably get the basic ins from ICBC and get agreed value ins from Hagerty who just happened to announced that at a local vintage club meet that Vipers will be collectors!:2tu: :2tu:

I was surprised to find out last year that State Farm considered my 98' GTS a classic and dropped my insurance to $65 a month for a $40k agreed value.

Hagerty was TWICE the price of others when I was shopping, ended up with Grundy.

Any mileage or other driving restrictions?

Just got the approval letter from ICBC [ the only insurer in ****** BC to get the mandatory basic insurance  ] last week. I got the car insured for storage right now that will run out by the end of february. By then I'll have the plate and probably the quotes on agreed value. With Hagerty there would be an appraisial involved on agreed value, with ICBC they insure up to 40K without appraisal I've heard.

Great info. Beautiful car. I have a 97 that's probably 50/mo on collector, no real restrictions, but I'm sure I trust the value. Grundy sounds like a good call...

I have mine with State farm 7500 or less miles a year and in October I drop it to Comprehensive Only, then in May I pick up full coverage again.
I don't drive it in the winter anyway so why insure it.

Yeah, until you file a claim with Grundy and it is a pain in the you know what for them to pay a realistic estimate. Now with Haggerty.... No problems. Speaking from experience with both companies.

Picked up my collector plates an hour ago. pleasure use only, no milage restriction, liability, collision and comprehensive coverage, $773.00 for a full year.It cost $1950 last year as a non collector for pleasure use. It will be interesting to find out how much Hagerty will quote for additional coverage if I want to go over the 40K.
