It was a huge, internet lead get together. All by word of computer. I would guess at over 200+ cars. About 10 of us caravaned up to MMP for a day of racing.
This is us meeting at the gas station for the launch of the road trip

And now my question to the sparkplug readers out there, I took the champions out halfway throuhg the day. At firdt when I pulled them out I thought they were red hot, but on closer inspection they had a weird coating on the electrode. I have always used Chevron Supreme, any guess as to why they look like this?

That is an odd color! I'm not sure about that, but you need to change those things more often! I do mine every other oil change.

Have you used any fuel injector cleaner lately?

Those color deposits usually are from an additive of some sorts. FI cleaner, octane booster etc.

I agree with Jerome, that color is being caused by some sort of fuel additive.

Another thing I am noticing is your plug gap's, in the first picture it seems they vary considerably, but it may be an optical illusion.

I have used fuel injection cleaner, got keep running clean. I will typically put one of the 3000 mile cleaners in every 1000 miles, just for good measure. So you think this is causing the odd color?

I am almost 100% positive it is from your fuel inj. cleaner.

Do you happen to have a better (closer) pic of your plugs? It almost looks like the positive electrode (center) is rounded over. IE no sharp edges. If so it's time for new ones.

I think I might have 4000 miles on these. I changed them out at the track for the Splitfires. I picked up almost one full second and 20 MPH with just the plug change!

Well, I think he could have done better, and the weight of the car is in question(he weighed it at the track at 5400lbs), but I pulled a best of 12.3@115 and he pull a best of 13.1@109. He has dynoed his car a 373 RWHP. Great day for racing!

Hope that was 3400 lbs. A ZR1 at 5400 would have a Yugo in its trunk.

Yeah, 5400, but we knew it had to be that the scale at the track was off. We think the guy running it didn't reset it from the car before. ey what do you want, it (the scale) was free!

Mike, glad to see you representing the Viper Nation. Tell the truth, you didn't wanna risk losing to the vette so you threw a few bags of ready-mix in his trunk while he wasn't looking. :D

BTW, cool looking hood pad. You paint that yourself?

Yeah, that # is a bit off - my ZR1 with me and a full tank of gas weighs in at around 3550 as I recall...

I know, when he told me that it weighed as much as it showed, BS flag went up. Just a bad scale. Hey Dave, how everything in Cali? You guys get together lately? I was somewhat disappointed with my results, My best 60' time was 1.8, but with the Kumho's I have seen others get down to 1.6. So my launch needs work. On top of that, my shifting sucked, never did powershift. I think if I had I would have gotten 12.0 or maybe 11.99, which was my goal. Practice, practice, practice........

Mike

Edit: Dave, I did do the pad myself, but up close it looks like a$$, I need to put one more coat on it. It's a good weekend project. Hey if you talk to Toddt, tell him the Splitfires gave me an extra 100 ponies :D :D

Mike, I'll be sure to pass that along to Todd next time I see him. Last I heard he sold his ACR (think he replaced it with an AMC Pacer or a Ford Pinto). He's probably still lurking on the board. I'll also let him know that your cat delete got you an extra 150 horses.

When's your next visit to the People's Republik of Kalifornia? Hopefully I'll be boosted by your next hop out here. I have the Roe S/C in pocket just haven't had a chance to install it. Been too busy remodeling the house.

Hey Dave,
Yeah me and Todd had a running disagreement(I was playing devil's advocate), about the HP increase with the plugs. Tried to get him going, but he wouldn't bite and the trip to the track proved his point. Don't know when I will be back that way, been busy turning soldiers into aviators. :usa: :usa: Remodeling house, know that feeling. It never stops either, there is always somthing else......

I could not get him away from the picture! It was like a fly on ****. Dam ugly southern looking, 12 sandwich eating, truck driving.......... :D :D
At least he was wearing a Chuck Tator's Dodge T-shirt!!

Dave, Mike, you can fergetabout Toddt. I exchanged some e-mail with him, and he did sell his ACR, and had a deal
on an SRT, but alas it is not gonna happen...I think he wants the grand daddy of the SRT, the S2000!

Dave, if Mike is not com'in out anytime soon, and the weather is looking better, maybe we need a Spring Fling...Note, I
moved to Los Altos, so you know I really can't even afford gas now, but I will make a trip to the Danville area if need
be...Or we could do South Bay/Peninsula...Heck, since Todd is carless, he does not get a location vote :D
