Not going to cut it. SRT needs to think outside of the Viper faithful if they want any chance of kicking ass with the ACR. No widebody and it will be a flop. Radical or bust. And that yellow one looks very Asianesque.

Widebody versions of cars are for extra tire clearance. The Gen V already stuffs a 355 tire in the back, stock - with room to spare. Can fit a 315 front. The cars are already "widebody" by most standards, especially in person. I would like to see a streetable version of the GT3-R though, that would be perfect (if it is even legal at the current width that it is)

Yes the GT3-R is fantastic looking in person; it would make a great looking ACR.

Wide body not only allows extra tire width but track width as well. The race cars are widened to meet the max allowable width per series regulations. All of the ALMS GT cars are about the same width regardless of what the OEM width is. So the narrow BMW is more of a departure from OEM than the Viper for example.

Because a trunk lip and 2 spoiler-ish things under the front bumper are not the same as a full-on rear wing and canards.
It is hard to speculate without knowing facts. Past generation ACR ground effects provide extra downforce but at the expense of increased drag and do interfere with off track driving. More is not necessarily better.

To remain competitive in today's market, Viper should implement active ground effects and on the fly ride height control. These technologies are not super expensive and certainly expected in a 100k plus car.

That yellow one looks too much like a Mercedes SLS with that front brake intake or whatever it is (instead of fog light).

Cause that's exactly what it is! A photoshop of SLS parts.

Sorry Willem, not digging it. I would rather see a streetable GT3-R.

As for 'Active Aero', that stuff is silly. Keep it on the Maca, Lambos, etc. Gen II ACR's didn't have any aero just a bit of weight loss which made them more or less stripped down 98' GT2's. The Gen IV ACR is a complete track gripper.

There is nothing silly about active aero, unless frequent refueling and curb scraping are what you are after.

You wanna bet, cause I don't see any ALMS GT cars using it. It's been around for years, I've never found active aero that important. Nobody that spends $500k+ on any supercar with the stuff really isn't going to care about fuel mileage.

You can have the biggest possible set of carbon ceramic rotors on the planet, no matter what, your ********** will be closer everytime that spoiler goes near vertical 90 degrees cause you smashed the brake pedal.

Would love to see some active aero on the next ACR. Automatic track extension that can extend at speed but retract at low speeds and be street legal...rear wing that can adjust for braking, top speed runs and cornering optimizations.

3-way shocks from MCS (or KW). Tune the heck out of the suspension to make it more inline with the most communicative sports cars out there (no more weird near limit gyrations in the rear and funny business that other reviewers/race car drivers have noted).

Steel braided lines. Carbon brakes. Oil catch can ready.

Torque vectoring diff.

Use the Tremec TR6070 if not a DCT (use 7th gear for overdrive highway cruising). And a shorter shifter if manual...the Gen V shifter is still too tall...love the MGW short shifter. :D

Trans cooler from ACR X.

Forged bits inside to allow the engine to rev to 7000+ rpm, with an optional Mopar cam/PCM to put the power up to 750hp-800hp (like the P5155872 drag engine).

Bigger gas tank too so one doesn't have to tow a gas station behind them. Must have wasteful burble of the stock 2008 Viper and optionally shoot flames out the side (Mopar PCM).

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 please. Optional magnesium rim sets (must be replaced every year) or carbon magnesium rims.

GT3R body would be a fine starting point. Target the P1 and Porsche 918 (but not the LaFerrari since it is from a sibling company :cool:) lap times around the 'ring starting around 1/10th - 1/8th the price.

Make the first 10 match the GTS-R paint schemes (5 & 5) limited editions and there should be plenty of people vying for them. Give a $25k+ paint scheme option that would allow people to sit down with SRT/Prefix to custom paint them from the factory. Beyond the first 10, all ACRs should be made to order, and factory pick up should be a standard feature.

ACR must retain the original Viper mission of scaring women and children.

Obviously the design would call for a modification to the intakes borrowed from the SLS but the overall look got vastly improved with the bigger and bolder grille. Should SRT choose to go for the GTS-R/GT3-R look I expect it will be changed drastically before getting the roadlegal approval.

well unless you expect SRT to retool all of CAAP, you're gonna be disappointed when the new ACR comes out if you're expecting a wider body...

You think they're making their own molds? Doubt they are. They should build it that way an everyone knows it.

First off they need to figure out a way to sell the 400 plus cars that they have. It will be hard to sell the existing stock of 2013's. I don't see Segio letting them build an ACR. Yes maybe they will sell a few but they need to make $ on their investment.

It really is about the $$$!! Halo car and all-if it broke even maybe-who knows-maybe even if it lost some $$$ -but the car they have has to sell!!!!! Everyone seems to have valid points-but can
one really have a car that sells only 400-500 units a year be a launching pad to invest more $$$-I don't know! Did the initial launch generate enough excitement to spur enough sales to get additionally
planned models into production-only time will tell! Needless to say-smarter people than I seem to have an uneasy feeling-it would be great if we knew the mood inside SRT about the Viper as it stands
today-6 months after initial deliveries-but given the Corvettes POSITIVITY among the masses and it's initial sales volume-you know the "bosses" can't be happy with their initial slice of the pie!!
I REALLY HOPE the car has made enough of an impact to continue on-ALOT of $$$ has been invested in CAAP - TO ME it stands ALONE in the US automotive market- but there needs to be a ALOT MORE

The investment SRT made in this car I'm quite sure fits into a business model over time, they will not fold the tent w/out making sure they have explored all options. Between the ALMS racing investment, CAAP and their obligation to the company and the owners/loyalists they will make a go of it until the well is dry IMO. The Corvette is not even a product to compare it to, the price point is way off and it is a dime a dozen vehicle. The Viper is an exclusive supercar that is truly a limited market buyers choice. Does anyone think that if GM came out with a 100k ZO6 and a 130k ZR1 they'd be selling any better than the Viper, the simple answer is NO. Sadly the world does not recognize either car for what they are, world class performers that now are much more refined. IMO SRT simply overpriced the car and did a lousy job reaching a target audience. They also certainly did not use history to their advantage, had they done so they would have priced the car 20k less and sold more if they wanted to go after volume. Is it fair to say that if a SRT was in the 80k range a lot of C7 buyers may give it a hard look, I believe so. And on the GTS side if the car came in at 115 or so it would be a lot more looked at by the Euro car buyers. The new car is awesome, but between the lousy launch and screw ups with the mag testing as well as too high a price it quickly has gotten a bad rep, and as we all know 99 rights equal one wrong and the word that travels is the wrong.

I'm not talking about molds, I'm talking about how much clearance is needed to run an 80 inch wide car down the assembly line...

I'll bet there's a way to do it - the Gen V is about 77" wide, so it wouldn't seem impossible to add 1.5" on each side. Could be a bit tight in spots, but not impossible.

If they came out with a GT3-R that's re-badged as an ACR, I'd be all over it. Especially if they left the exhaust outlets and heat shields in place as-is. That would be one mean car.
