NACA duct - to paint or not to paint???

I am in the process of painting strips on my GTS.

Would like opinions on whether or not to paint through the NACA duct. Looks very different painted vs not painted. I like both and am having a hard time making up my mind!! Thanks for your input....Kurt

I have seen custom paint jobs and cars with vinyl stripes without the stripes on the NACA duct. It makes the duct really stand out, looks better and adds a finished look to the hood paint, where the stripes camouflage it somewhat.

If you are looking for a stock stripe look then paint the tradition stripes through the NACA duct, if looking original does not matter to you dont paint it.

If I ever have to repaint my hood, I will not paint the stripes on the NACA duct.

My vote is for painting/striping the NACA duct. I think it looks MUCH better than the unpainted ones.

I am about to paint stripes on my GTS. What stripe dimensions are you going with: the wider '96 or the '97 and up? Are you going to paint thru the license area? I plan to paint the NACA duct.

I am going with the 97 stripe patten:

Exact deminsions are 96: 209mm-100mm-209mm with 97 up (changed again in 2000 or 2001 I think): 203mm-112mm-203mm

I think it looks way better to paint through the plate IMO (my 94 RT was this way).

Also, I am leaning towards not painting the NACA duct. I like the looks of both, so it's a hard decision for me.

What are you thinking about stripe wise??

I like the effect of not striping through the NACA duct. I think it highlights the duct and it makes your Viper different from most of the rest of the striped Vipers. If I stripe mine ( still undecided ) that is what I will do. I also agree with you about definitely striping through the license plate area. Good luck and are you going to bring it to our next VCA meeting at Pappa's on 7/13?

My GTS is going to be red with silver stripes. Since the silver stripes are a little more subtle on the red I was leaning towards the wider '96 stripe pattern to make them stand out a little more. I also plan to paint thru the license area as it gives the rear stripe more of a finished look.

Are you going with white or silver stripes?

I going with white. I really like the combination/contrast of these two colors!! My 94 RT was red with white stripes, so I guess it's in my blood. Red/silver does look VERY sharp though
