Need Grease Info For SlaughterJ\'s Reference List

The manual just lists the spec requirements (nothing in the rear of the owners manual with a Mopar #)for chassis grease.

would someone please provide a couple of brands and types (synthetic/conventional) and a p/n if possible.

Also any particular things to know about Viper chassis greasing?

Thanks

I've been using Mobil 1 Synthetic Universal Grease. It is NLGI GC-LB approved. Usually find it at AutoZone or Advanced Auto.

Viperjoe,

Checked the shop manual. All I could find was this:
NLGI (national lubricating grease institute)should be on the grease tube.

GC = Wheel bearings
LB = Chassis Lubrication
GC-LB = Chassis and wheel bearings (a dual purpose grease I assume)

Apparently the "C" and the "B" are indictive of the highest quality possible for grease.

I like synthetic grease myself. Used it plenty on many snowmobiles where RPMS are up near 8000 on the jackshaft. The bearings last longer and show less signs or wear.

Yep, shop manual is just a tad better than the owners manual, but still very generic.

Thanks Steve

Chuck,
Is that 1lb tub a typical cartridge or would I have to pack the gun from the tub?
Thanks

So what's the frequency of greasing, simply "as needed"?

They are NUTS!! 30,000 miles on a Viper!? Out of 400 Vipers I work on, 6 of them have over 30,000 miles!

Once a year or 3000 miles lube it!

ViperJoe,
I can't tell you about the "Mopar" grease, I use "Pennzoil" #303 Ball Joint Grease and "Pennzoil" #707 Wheel Bearing Grease.

Chuck, I thought that was out of whack also. I was typing what was in the service manual. Why would they make increments like that? I mean you can't do any harm by overgreasing can you? Just stick to 3000 miles like you said, right?
