Okay enough already I want the 3.55 gear upgrade!!!
And speedo of course.
I live in lancaster NY just outside Buffalo NY
My local vipertech never exchanged rear viper gears and doesn't want to practice on mine. So I want to do the upgrade but refuse to go to a shop. Has to be a vipertech!! Don't want some guy who has only worked on jeeps to try his hand on my viper for the first time.

Does anyone know of a vipertech anywhere near WNY?
I will go as far as 500 miles(bumped this up to find someone) this spring to get it done.
Don't mind the roadtrip and waiting for it at the dealership so long as it is a GREAT tech that has done this before.
Thank you in advance for any leads.

Jim:

Ditto on Chuck, although he's got to be 300+ miles down the thruway from you. Call him - major straight shooter!

Chuck does not check his e-mail as often...

I guess that is the point. If you go to Tator's, Chuck is the tech. But that is quite the ride.

Jim,

Jeff left you his number above. Give him a call. Good chance he may know someone closer to Buffalo. I went to college near Utica. Man, heck of a winter season up there! BRRRRRRRRR.

Good luck.

Citysnake,
this year it was the 7ft of snow winter(no lie)!
unreal!

anyhow i talked to chuck to day and he would recommend i let my tech pull it and send it out to a local rearend shop. One that only does rearends. My local tech does have a good race shop
that he can send it to. So i am checking that option.
But thanks for all the help as soon as spring does come it will get the rearend done one way or the other.

how had is the install of the speedo correction device?
i guess my vipertech would do that for me after the new gears are put in from the shop?
thanks
JIM

Well, you've made the right decision on the 3.55's, but your thinking on the wrong path. Believe me, I came to the same conclusion as you did right around the same time last year and I live just south of you near Pittsburgh. Hey, its winter and your car is in bed!! See if your friendly Viper tech can come to your home (mine did) and drop the diff. Trust me, it took mine 15 minutes once he had the car on jack stands. Then you box it up, send it to Devin at Unitrax (they ARE the best with Viper diffs) and about 10 days later you have yours back and the tech can reinstall. Differentials in general, and Viper diffs especially are very tricky. You need experienced, diff trained mechanics who have the tools for a Viper diff. Corvette tools WILL NOT work. Don't screw around with it...you'll be alot happier.

"Enough Already" is right.

$895 installed and you pay the freight. You remove/ship/receive your exact same housing back, geared for 3.55 or 3.33.

-Stronger, hardened gears
-Cryo-treated
-Micro-polished
-new internals
-correct setup, guaranteed.

Or, I'll SEND you the gears/speedo, and any good 4X4 shop can likley do the work. Id prefer them to a no-experience Dodge dealer any day. carefully lifting the Viper is the only concern. Babysit that portion, then go away. The lifted, exposed diff is child's play for any good 4X4 shop.
