I don't know about y'all but as soon as I get off work I'm headed straight for the Country Club so I can use my Launch Control! I'll keep an eye peeled for any errant golf balls since I will hardly be able hear the shout of 'fore' over the UPS exhaust note of my V. Alrighty then, it's off to Bushwood.

It is a 1/4 mile track. I have not been there this year, but, Quaker is an unusual track in that the staging lanes are uphill, fine for an auto, but, not good for a stick car. The only reason I offered that track was that it is probably as close for Peer as it is for me. Maybe he is not a bad person, I just want to see if he is all talk and I am not saying i am a better driver, I just want to race him.

Here is the link:

http://www.quakercitymotorsportspark.com/events.php

I see he declined my offer to race. As we thought, all mouth, what a !!!!!!!!!

Jack, I hope Quaker is only an 1/8-mile track. I'd hate to have to force someone into tuning 4th gear on a dynojet, if they only like to use 3rd for racing. Please be considerate.

I still want to race you at Quaker City, just say yes or I will assume you know nothing about drag racing. I doubt you could even navigate the lanes at Quaker City, they are unique.BTW, VIPERS are not about floor mats.

Vipers are not about drag racing but they are about looking good. You didn't refute anything I said so we can only assume you agree with everything I said.

Not to start a sh!tstorm here, but you do realize that any high horsepower drag car has launch control. Probably the second highest paid guy on a drag team is the guy that sets up the clutch and how much it slips and when and how it engages.

Actually no, drag cars built specifically for drag racing use manually shifted automatic transmissions. They do not have clutches; they have a torque converter. This makes launching cars with 1000-2000 HP or more practical. Nobody who is serious about drag racing is using a manual transmission.

I don't get why you all even engage with PeerBlock. He sat and argued for pages that the gearing in most cars for 3'd is 1:1

Which I was not wrong about.

Well, if nothing else we have a new urban slang definition. From now on, "Peer Block" is the automotive equivalent to "C@ck Block". I'm going to forward this thread to Jalopnik so it can go world wide and make "Peer Block" a household name in the automotive world. So the next time your tuner does something stupid, he "Peer Blocked" you. SRT can't release the computer codes, you've been "Peer Blocked". Your Hugo has a 5 speed transmission and 3rd gear is 1 to 1, you've been "Peer Blocked". You screw up your launch at the drag strip, you've "Peer Blocked" yourself.

Whenever somebody claims something on the forum so blatantly stupid, just reply "Peer Block" to the tread. Your really can't top that response.

In the meantime, you might want to watch this:

Torque convertor eh? really not even an auto transmission

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLNOuuY3scU

Also for the 2k hp cars...
the most popular transmission was the Lenco planetary design, first used as a four-speed and now as a five-speed. Although the five-speed unit (usually air-shifted) is still used in ADRL and Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association and in Air-Shifted three-speed units in Pro Modified, NHRA Pro Stocks utilize a Liberty or G-Force five-speed clutchless manual transmission.

Just curious guys and gals... what your best 0-60 time so far? I'm new to the whole launching thing and not a drag racer by any means... only launched it a handful of times and cannot seem to break 4.1 seconds. I gave up on the launch control for now. I know this is terrible time and there is some serious room for improvement...;)

I'm glad you guys responded to our buddy PB, for saying all race transmissions had converters in them. Peer Block will never admit when he is wrong, he'll just twist the wording around and say he meant something else, and that you guys misunderstood his brilliance. Then he'll retort some other nonsense about how great he is. I fully expect him to say he was only speaking about Evos or Subarus again, and that you guys don't get it.

Clutchless Manual tranmissions are mated to a torque converter...they are effectively automatic transmissions that need to be shifted manually - which is what I said. You're not "clarifying" anything by googling "drag racing transmissions" and copying text from the results.

Summary of claims Jack B regarding tranmissions:

"All transmissions have a direct drive 1:1 gear."

My reply listed several popular automotive transmissions that do not. He then attempted to backpedal by claiming that transaxles don't count as transmissions despite the fact that they both perform the same function.

Statement from 9balls regarding appropriate gear for dyno runs:

"All dyno runs are always done in 4th gear."

My reply explained that the ideal gear for a dyno pull can vary with your vehicle as well as the final drive. Yes, the "effective" road speed that you are putting down on the dyno matters as the size of the rollers limits the ability of a dyno to measure effectively. Final drive matters. When I stated that I had a vehicle of mine dyno tuned in 3rd gear, you assumed I was at fault (without knowing anything about the vehicle or the dyno itself) yet I clearly showed that it's actually you who is clueless.

Both of you self-proclaimed experts got schooled and are apparently still butt-hurt about it. Maybe it's time to take your balls and go home.

An Honest Response to to a Lie

I am being polite when I say he is a liar, the last paragraph is something he made up to prove him not sooo stupid. I never mentioned transaxles. I have been tolerant to this point, however, I have no capacity for lies. Get the punk off the site. He also lied about coming up with several popular transmissions that have no direct drive.

Again, another thread ruined by an immature trash talking egomaniac. I know the administrators will not like this post, however, they have to put a stop to the damage this **** does.

THERE IS NOT A T.C. IN THESE SETUPS
Google is the most simple way to give a visual explanation for the know it all's.....which also tells us that you have failed to watch.

Here's another " Anatomy of a complete clutch tear down" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_7wpe7aeKc

Watch closely.......point this said "Convertor" out for us.....Just in case......heres a image of a torque convertor

You must be registered for see images attach

You are more than welcome to book a flight to Texas and observe one of these systems first hand. I assure you theres not a tc much less "gears to shift" whether auto or manual.

Jack B.

A bit off topic....
Whats your opinion on a little spray with the Gen5. Ive noticed the twin inlet boots would probably require a "dual" nozzle. Thoughts?

That worked well on the the Gen 2. A simple wet 200 shot (or less) would be easy to do, however, the MAF sensors might not like it. Going into the manifold to get by the MAF sensors also has some draw backs. At a minimum you would need a permanent wide band logger for safety.

Blah blah blah...seems like you have a problem admitting you were WRONG, and every time you bring it up, I can only laugh...and now your nerd raging.

LOL the clutch maintenance video you linked to is exactly why many racers don't use them anymore. You don't have enough time between passes to rip it apart and some classes just banned them outright to keep the races entertaining.

Since you like google so much, type in "powerglide racing transmission" and show me which ones don't use a torque converter. The transmissions you mentioned are not "the most popular" because most people drag racing professionally are running some variant of the 'glide.

For drag racing, you will get the best performance with a powerglide type of transmission and torque converter...only an old fart who is behind the times would think that a lenco is a better choice over a powerglide in 2013.

Sadly, I must report that yesterday at Bushwood Country Club my V launches were not embraced nor were they appreciated by the 'good 'ol boys' at the club. Was I socially 'Pir Bloked', I'm not really sure.... As I was lighting a shuck out'a there, I did hear one of them shout, "that weren't no divet! That was a trench!"... Maybe with continued help from 'the Learned', I can yet find a useful application for my launch control...

Why do you keep making meaningless and demeaning posts? I never saw someone troll their own threads as hard as you do. Do you even have a viper or did your step-daddy let you drive his because you're a big boy now?

That's a pretty good idea. You push the lunch control button and the viper automatically whisks you away to the nearest fast food drive thru... SRT needs to weigh in on this.
