Re: New 08\' Viper pics and info!

damn thats a very tempting combo

i agree. but i am so attached to my ACR; especially the classic lines which are so daytona coupe like, that i just can't see parting with it. maybe i will sell my Z06 and buy the new viper instead. the other problem i see with gen-3 vipers is that i have yet to see how anybody has gotten a 4 point roll bar in one of these cars like i have in my ACR. gotta have that to do any kind of real racing.

Not me, not yet.
Great numbers.

8.4L engine,
McLaren Performance Technologies, Ricardo, and others consulted on the engine project, Engine now has VVT, 6400 RPM redline, Compresion 10.2:1
Revised cusbustion chambers, larger valves (23% more flow on intake side) 12% more flow on exhaust side. Swinging oil pickup to protect against oil starvation during hard cornering, Intake system: now 2-piece manifold/plenum desin with smoother intake passages and surfaces throughout. Dual electronic throttle bodies. Cold air intake system revised for higher flow, Each cylinder now has its own coil pack mounted to the valve cover. Better sounding exhaust w/o interior heat due to the dumping of the SRT x-pipe setup. New dual-disc clutch pack has 18% less intertia for quicker engine revs.

Now for the hard part. IMO (just my opinion), this body is DOA. I was hoping for more, alot more, on the styling side. 6 clumsy vents just doesn't seem to rock my world. Coupe looks better than the open top, but not by much.

New optional wheel design called Razor
Same frame and suspension as 03-06
New Color combos: Shakespeare Green, Viper violet, and bright orange.
No mention of a new front facia, only the louvered hood

Nope...

I agree 100% with Damn Yankee. The technical specs on the car are impressive, but it's just a boring, played out body style that has none of the seduction of a Gen-1/2, at all. A considerable part of owning this car is enjoying the way it looks, and I would have a hard time doing that based on what I see in that article. Too bad.

It's too bad they didn't find that "timeless" look again, but that thing will be a hell of a lot of fun to drive I'm sure.

I'm going to have to see the entire package, take a drive and see what it's all about.
I do not like the looks of the hood from the pictures. And if that's the only styling change they made, I'd be disappointed a bit as well.

The power, well, is AWESOME. Truely a dream for anyone that enjoys performance cars.

The numbers are commendable but the styling still falls short for me. I almost sent Bill P. a deposit for an 08 a few weeks ago as I had high hopes that the styling would change for the better. I'm glad I didn't. Time to supercharge the GTS. :)
