New cat back system coming out soon

So you aren't making a system for Gen 2, but couldn't we utilize this in the same section and custom fab our own exit piping?

With the shape of our Gen2 sidesills i do not think the first 5"OD component he is using will fit. I have a 4" OD component(moroso spiralflow) in-place of my cat and it is further rearward than this system and mine Barely fits. You can purchase the aero mufflers separately to build your custom system. It is a PITA fabing&routing the exit which is why this kit by Vipair is a great product cause it takes out all the guesswork. For that, i think its worth it for the Gen3/4 guys. But for us, buying two mufflers welded together for a marked up price is not really a benefit since your gonna have to spend extra with the fabing to get it to work anyways.

All the stock components add up to approx 55 lbs
Stock mufflers 13.6 lbs each x2 total 27.2 lbs
Muffler to H pipe piece 10.2 lbs each x2 total 20.4 lbs
H pipe center section 8.4 lbs x1 total 8.4 lbs
Total weigh stock exhaust TOTAL 56 LBS

Corsa system 27.8 LBS per side x 2 TOTAL 55.6 LBS

The Vipair cat back exhaust system TOTAL 37 LBS

Does anyone know the weight of the stock system vs. this system (or the Corsa system for reference)?

Sorry for the delay on Photos and Opinions on thsi Exhaust. So here are a few from the install. Nothing hard about it, just time consuming is all. The position of the tips is always the tricky part (well forward and up a little when cold is what you want). Ok so everyone wants to know about the sound........ Its Deep and I mean DEEP! What I find interesting about this system is that the Decibals are the same as my corsa but it doesnt hurt my ears as bad. I have to assume its because its lost that raspy sound and is now several octives lower. I took the RPM's up to 5500 and it is a huge roar instead of a scream. Thats the best way I can describe it compared to the Corsa. Since I havnt been onto the open road with it and my first Track event won't be until April or May its hard to say what full power will sound like. As of now I love the sound and all my kids think it sounds a lot better then the Corsa. They tend to care more about the sound then I do :)... My passion is for speed and apex's.

I love the tone of the stock exhaust. I love how it's low when idle/low revs, but then higher pitched when at high revs. Seems like something none of the aftermarket exhausts reproduce.

So I'm glad to hear that this one has lower tones when idling. What about when you get to 4k RPMs or so, does it get higher? How does the TONE (not the volume) compare to a stock Viper?

Compared to the Stock would be hard for me to even recall. Its been many moons since my Viper had the Stock exhaust on it :D Im not sure I would be able to compare apples to apples for you on an OEM exhaust install using Vipairs setup. I have Balanger Headers and no Cats on my car so there will be some differences. When I revd to 5500rpm on mine it just sounded way louder. Its hard to say though since it was in my garage.

There's a good chance I'll have this before the season starts. You could check it out at the first IL VCA meeting :)

Awesome! Thanks for the update Shandon. I will go with the vipair exhaust for sure after reading your write up. I will probably add the belanger headers with this as well do you suggest I stay with the cats or remove them?

There was very little difference in either sound or power without the Cats. Its not to say there was no difference but just not a lot. HOWEVER--My car shoots flames and that gets folks attention on the track LOL.

There will be dyno numbers in teh next few weeks, this type of header, long tube merge collector are usually the highest power making headers, so the numbers will be good.

Yes, O2 Bungs in collector for your O2 sensor.

Any updated on this..
