New DYNO #\'s - Not a Cream Puff after all!

I feel much better with the new Dyno runs from today. Maybe they could have been a little higher if it were a bit cooler. Send some snow from the right coast!

The good news was the last and the best of the 3 runs today hit

445.4 HP
492.7 Torque.

The bad news was that Borla finished my exhaust and they were only able to squeeze out 3 or 4 HP. They said the OEM system was designed very well, much like what they would have built. They did however remove around 20 pounds of pipe, removed the H Pipe crossover and added chrome tips on the side. The new sound is improved as well. It was their opinion that they could not design headers that would be street legal. They plan on offering a set of race headers.

I understand that TNT will be releasing some numbers and photos soon that will make a lot of you happy. They did find a good amount of hidden HP. I'm looking forward to seeing their update.

Interesting - any pictures of the new exhaust installed.

How is the new sound - deeper, throaty or ??? I trust it doesn't sound anything like the UPS truck

Congrats with the "improved" HP and TQ numbers

No, it doesn't sound like a UPS truck... it sounds more like a FedEx truck now. Just kidding. It sounds a bit deeper, more muffeled at idle. I can hear a little bit of the old side pipe sound but only for a second.

When you punch it, it has a great roar. I have only heard it though from inside the car and on the dyno. I'll have to have someone drive by while I'm out of the car. I have not taken any photos of the side pipe tips yet. When I have time to wash the car, I will try and get a few photos. I think the tips still needs a little work. I would like a little cleaner look from the side. They do look better then the stock tips though.

(By the way - from what I hear,TNT has also removed the H Pipe in their design)

It's funny how the numbers can be so different from one Dynojet to another.

Maybe not a cream puff Jerry, but still rejected by three Viper owners! At least now you'll be able to keep up with the rest of the gang. :D
BTW...my SRT reached J status after about 2 weeks in I. Steve and Tony are telling CAAP to make this as painful as possible for me! I know Pemberton can't wait to deliver this Viper so I quit bugging him

So you are not running any type of crossover under the car?

Any resonance?

Andy don't get excited about "J" status. In YOUR case "J" means the "JOKE" is on YOU! We have let the plant know how important it is for you to have a UNIQUE Viper. I think you might have the HONOR of being the ONLY person to receive a 2003 Viper in 2004.

Andy... I was asked not to tell you this but... I was offered your red car months ago when it arrived at Woodhouse. I turned it down as did a few dozen other VCA members. Bill told me the car belonged to another VCA member in California but they were told by a past VCA president that for some reason you were not interested in receiving your car early because it had such a low VIN#. I think it was 001 or 002. Because of that, they never told you about receiving the first VIN #.

I see now that they have made it around to you again with a second VIN number. I hope that past president doesn't use his influence to extend the build process on your second SRT-10.

J Smith - I haven't noticed any major amount of resonance. I mentioned above that some of the other exhaust designers are also removing the crossover. We'll have to see what the others sound like to see which system sounds best.

Jerry - congrats, that sounds much more like it. That torque reading is incredible!

Do you have the stock air filters on the car, or K&Ns?

When the next person asks what benefits they get if they join VCA, my answer will be "great friends and good fellowship". If that doesn't convince people to fork over a hundred bucks, nothing will!
Tony...I'll pick your daughter up at 7 on Friday night. I'll drop her off on my way back to LA on Sunday evening. That ok?

Ben - All stock with the exception of the Borla exhaust. They told me they were only able to get 3 to 4 hp gain with them. So it sounds like they don't account for to much of the hp or torque.

Andy - Tony wanted me to tell you he was very happy you finally made a friend and to please stop bothering his daughter.

Re: New DYNO #\'s - Not a Cream Puff after all!

I gather by all of the weight Borla removed that the exhaust
now exits on the same side of the car the engine produces it
at instead of "Crossing" over to the other side. I always
thought the little "H" crossover pipe was added to make HP.
But I guess if you're lightening the car that's as good as
horsepower too.

Holy Kaka-day -poopoo!

That figures out to around 525 with the old 15% loss, but the torque is off scale. The gains are huge from your first run,but how many miles are on the
car now? Enquiring minds want to know!?

Andy just so you don't get too excited I wanted you to know what "KZ" status in YOUR case stands for "KICKED to Z back of the warehouse". So when Billy P let's you know that your car is in "KZ" you have about a six-month wait to delivery.

Love,
Dad

Bill - Last Dyno was at +/- 1300 miles. It was in a different city, 75 degree weather and a higher elevation.

Jerry...Distance is not a problem. I have a lot of frequent flyer miles but 13 is too young.Guess you're safe... for now!
