Hey Folks

Just want to say Hi from New Jersey!

I'm an old muscle car guy from back in the 70s... First car was a red and white 1970 SS 396 Chevelle that I bought used in 1976. I've had a GTO, Z28, SS Camaros, AMXs, Mustang etc... It's been a long time though since I've had a real performance car and was going to look for a 1970 SS Chevelle but I've been there and done that. At this point the Viper is really the only car that gives me the itch...

I test drove a 1995 Viper the other day and now I'm really hooked. I'm sizing my garage up for a 4 post storage lift so if anyone has one for a Viper that they really like I would be interested in hearing about it. I need something that will give me at least 75" lift so I can get my Rhino in and out on a daily basis. I have a big 3 car garage with an 11' 6" ceiling but have my daily drivers in the other two bays and want to keep the viper above my boat and Rhino both of which I use quite a bit.

I think I want a 96-01 GTS but after driving the 1995 the other day an RT/10 may also work for me. I do want one with the adjustable pedals and at least 450hp. I imagine there are plenty of posts on what to look for in a used Viper but I'm hoping you guys can steer me in the right direction..

Hello, and WELCOME "to the madness"!!

There are several threads here concerning 4 post lifts. I would suggest that you look at Rotary/Revolution or Bend-Pak for starters.

Adjustable pedals and 450 hp did not come on Vipers until the 1996 GTS...noting that the 1996 RT/10 did NOT have adjustable pedals and the hp was 415.

By the way, while I am fortunate to have a choice, the 1995 RT/10 is one of my own favorites to drive!!!

Look around, see what you might want, ask questions here...and, be sure to have a "Viper guy/gal" look at any specific Viper that umight plan to purchase...BEFORE you buy it !!!

Good luck with your hunt!!!

Send you in the right direction eh? :D

Do consider a Yellow Viper while doing your search. They are always faster than Red Vipers. :D:nana::D

Also, pick up a book called The Vipers Buyers Guide by Maurice Liang (the guy that started the VCA). It will bring you up to speed on the 92-05 Vipers VERY quickly.

Thanks for all of the replies and help.. Great bunch of folks here... I see some cars that I like but they don't have the stripes... What does is generally cost to add stripes ? Are they painted ? Does adding stripes influence the value either way ? Do all of the 96 and later cars have the adjustable pedals or is that an option ? Why does almost any car I see have aftermarket exhaust ? What years does the head gasket issue apply to ?

Doesn't being e-punked by Chuck result in an automatic 30 day suspension for the person Chuck had to correct (especially when pertaining to such important issues as red vs. yellow)? :D Good bye MoparBoy, see ya in a month :lmao:

Whats this? I am still here? Yeah! :nana:

Can't get rid of me! :D I am like a mosquito. You can keep swatting but the buzzing never stops!:rolaugh::eater:

Secondly, yellow is the color of choice. Just ask the president. Chris and Mary drive yellow, so there must be something good about it. :pbt:

MIKE, DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM!! HIS HEAD IS GETTING BIG ENOUGH ALREADY!

go with vinyl stripes so they can be removed if needed
Are they painted ?
yes, stock stripes are painted and clear coated
Does adding stripes influence the value either way ?
it can if the car is completely stock otherwise
Do all of the 96 and later cars have the adjustable pedals or is that an option ?
yes, not an option
Why does almost any car I see have aftermarket exhaust ?
because the stock exhaust is too quiet and sounds anemic for a beast like the viper
What years does the head gasket issue apply to ?
as far as I know there is not big issue, but the gen1s had gaskets that were more prone to leak

good luck on your search
it sounds like a red gen2 rt/10 with added white stripes would suit you well ;)
