I have a low mileage 2006 coupe with run flats in perfect shape. Do you think going to new design Michelin sport ZP run flats will offer a better ride quality. Also what do you think would be the possibility of selling the orig run flats. Have 5 tires had an extra rear tire when they became scarce. Thanks for the help Rich in Morristown NJ..

Run craps are crap. 5 year old tires are crap. Take those to the dump so you can sleep well at night for not killing an ignorant fellow Viper driver.

An Oxmoron: 'low-miles runflats from before 2006 in perfect shape'

P.T. Barnum would indeed be able to sell your original runcraps. {Remember his infamous slogan?}

You have one extra rear?!? They are still readily available. Not really scarce, just scarcely needed!

Lastly, the new ZPs rears are not avail in SRT OE sizes....you could go to 325 rear vs 345 = -.75" skinny, and hard ride like virtually all ZP tires. If you seek 'ride quality' why not do what 2008-2010 Vipers do, and most Viper retro-fits: PS2 and carry an inflator-sealer. The PS2 handling and ride will AMAZE you. Honest.

Hey Jon I value your opinion but being 70 I can't take the chance of screwing with a flat inflator packages only work half of the time. At least with the run flats I will get my friend to a safe location or home.. I thought that maybe the new design Micelin run flat might not follow all the rutts in the truck lane. I know the vette doesn't do it. Thanks for the help and they do come in the correct viper size 345 rear..

There is only one Pilot Sport ZP (Runflat) in 345-30-19 size.. that is the OE tire you already have on the car, and a spare-rear. You're asking about "new michelin sport ZP", only avail in a 325-19 rear, or a 345-20 rear. No "new" Michelin in a 345-19 rear, that is also a ZP. And you were seeking better ride quality = PS2.

Do NOT miss-match ZP and non, or PS2 with non-PS2. Not safe.

Rut-Tracking is first a factor of alignment.... An OE flat-footed alignment gives max tire wear, max fuel mileage, but also max rut and seam following due to the wide, flat footprint. The next factor is tread hardness. A softer, grippy tire with full tread can conform to deviations and be less disruptive than a hockey-puck-hard ZP tire, especially one that has aged and / or has less or worn tread. With 2 exceptions, Vettes generally have a mushier suspension and are less vulnerable to seam-follwing.

If you want to minimize seam-following, the best fix is a performance alignment....I tell owners that you can 'drive with 2 fingers instead of 2 hands' after a good alignment that takes advantage of the Viper's stiffer chassis and suspension. {But please dont drive with 2 fingers.} Good Luck..... And if you can point me to a 345-30-19 Michelin ZP that is NOT the "Sport" as comes OE, Ill send you a really nice doodad, because I need to know about this secret tire. Thanks.
