I talked to Gary at X-Metal and ordered his Single Blade Throttle Body a few weeks ago. The install was very straight forward and simple. I told Gary I would post some pics and write up my experience good or bad with it. So I already mentioned I installed it and yes it was easy and I am by no mean a grease monkey. Thats a big plus! Second I like the looks of the TB but would prefer a viper symbol instead of there logo :smirk: Sorry Gary. Ok now what everyone wants to know is did it make a difference. First before I went to the Dyno I took it out for a spin, I could immediatly tell that the throttle is initialy more responsive. In other words when you touch the gas it's a little more aggresive. Now I will admit that I couldn't tell a whole lot with power difference and didn't realy expect to feel a lot though with just this change. I went to the Dyno to see if I could get some real world numbers to show. God has blessed me with a dynojet about 8min from my house (Modular Depot)
and so it's an easy run to get it dynoed. Anyway we got it set up and did our first run. The car was tuned the last time it was on the dyno and nothing has changed since accept the TB. The first thing that we noticed was that the car ran real lean and so we stopped the dyno before going on up into the 4K rpm range and so we added some fuel back in. We got the A/F ratio back to what it was the last time we dynoed and were able to get the rwhp power right back to the last time. After that we were unable to get any more power out the car than before. So before you start saying well see "no more power" the one MAJOR factor here is that the humidity was almost 2 1/2 times what it was before and outside Temp 25 degree higher. That kind of atmoshperic change can realy rob some power on a N/A car and since they are only claiming a small HP increase with it I believe that the TB is making probably 5-12hp more than without because I would have not been able to hold the numbers I got without it on. So to end this long winded review, I am very happy with the upgrade HIGHLY recommend it! Here are some photo's after the install

Well, I used to own an SRT Ram which had a few X-Metal parts on it.

Looks like Gary is going to get some more of my money for this!:dunno:  :2tu:

Thanks for the review/dyno/pictures!:headbang:

So you didnt do a same day dyno run? Like checking it for a base, then changing out the throttle body (since it sounds easy, could be done on the dyno?) and then redyno?

That way your getting as CLOSE to idea conditions as you could. Yes I know things can change weather/humidity wise in a few hours, but probably not as bad as something weeks or months apart.

My 2 cents. Would love to see a same day before and after dyno runs.

Would be nice if alot of people would do before and after dyno runs on alot of parts, would help us know exactly what we would want to buy :)

Btw the extra power you are feeling could be it running leaner. Thats going to give you more power, but be alot harder on your engine. Produces alot more heat, etc..

without before and after dyno on the same day, im not buying any gains from it.

you are not gonna feel 10rwhp on a car thats got 440rwhp.

Yea I would have loved to swap it out on the dyno same day before and after. That is a little hard since at $100.00 an hour for dyno time it would have cost me pretty good since it took me two hours to get the TB on and I didn't want to spend a total of 4 hours at there shop. Yea I know your wondering why 2 hours to install:crazy2: . I take my time lay out the parts read the instructions though first then start. I take my time whenever I do anything on my viper. As to the running Lean my car at least does not make power running lean at all anything over 13.5 A/F it drops power like a rock. We have it running smooth near 12.3 and that puts some power down. Hope this helps. In terms of modifications I would do it over again if I bought another viper. It realy perks up the throttle response. Yes I agree a 5-12hp increase you will not feel or even notice but the new feel the pedel has is sweet! :2tu:

Most naturally aspirated Vipers and most V8's run stronger between 12.5 and 12.8 A/F ratio, according to the Viper tuners I have spoken with. You need more air if running forced induction, whether a Supercharger or turbocharger, according to those experts. Just passing this along....

Was hard to say since the two dyno's were so close in power yet the humidty was thick enough to cut with a knife and the temp was a lot hotter. Wish they had an AirConditioned garage and then we could always have nearly the same atmoshpere for dyno :) I'll mention that to them:D .

nowhere to now here TM
I thought "adjusted" dyno numbers can account for the change? We do that here so we can level the playing field since we are at minimum, a mile high.

I would be interested to know that! If there is like a scale for every 1% increase in humidity there is a .25 decrease in HP or something to that affect would be sweet to know.
