Hi Everyone,

We've been testing what the VEC2 software can allow us to gain on a stock engine (our '96 GTS, stock intake, stock manifolds, high flow cats, cat-back, smooth tubes & filters, 1.7:1 roller rockers).
On initial tests with street gas, back to back gains at the peak were 16 RWHP and 29 RWTQ. In the mid-range, from 4,000 to 5,000 rpm, the gain was 50 RWHP and 50 RWTQ.
More testing will come soon. We're going to add race fuel and turn up the timing more to see what the max gain can be. So far, it's made 466 RWHP and 511 RWTQ with the above combination on 93 octane fuel.

Regards,
Sean

Sean, what do you think it will do on the 5 psi blower cars?
And any news on the aftercooler?

Very nice Sean,

Are you planning on making a few maps and selling them with just Vec 2's? Sounds like you might have the best bang/buck product on your hands. Nothing short of heads will give you those results.

Hi Sean,
I'm having Gen 2 envy...

You said 50/50 gain over stock engine, so is that over OEM stock, or stock with 1.7 rockers/catbacks?

And with 16/29 at the peak, the 50/50 gain is below peak, so you've increased torque, no?

Sean, Will the vec2 work with a 96' RT (gen 1.5)?

There is only 1 VEC2 with timing advance at the moment. All the ones supplied with the Superchargers have retard only at this time, but that will change soon.
The SC cars will make more power in the midrange than they're making now also.
I'll scan and post the dyno graphs over the weekend. I have to re-load the scanner software first.
We did 6 dyno pulls to test whether it would help the naturally aspirated cars or not. So far, it looks promising.
There was no ping on street gas with the settings we've tried so far. We're adding fuel at the bottom end and increasing spark advance just about everywhere, especially in the mid-range.
Regarding the intercooler, it's coming along well, but slowly.
Regards,
Sean

Like the VEC1, we plan to make the VEC2 suitable for all model years. The wiring harness connectors and lengths will be different.

Here's the dyno sheet from our test, comparing a mildly tuned VEC2 (didn't spend too much time on it) vs the stock PCM.. Dyno 1 was a baseline test and dyno 2-6 were with fuel and timing changes. We waited about 15-20 minutes between each test. Dyno 5 was slightly better than 6. On dyno run #7, we simply unplugged the VEC2 and plugged the stock PCM back in.

I think we can get more out of it with more tuning on street gas (but not too much more, just maybe a better looking curve on the bottom). If we add race gas and bump the timing more, we'll definitely see increases in the numbers.

Sean

What about the Roe Superchargers and people with the VEC2 already - what's the proceedure for us to be upgraded?

Sean,

I am interested in tunning and dynoing a Vec 2 with the timing advance. Please let me know if you are going to have any available soon.

Sean.....my first mod to the Viper was headers and catback and it was very expensive! It did not give 1/2 the results of your of your tuning update did. Best of all for those who have the Vec2 ...... you just gave them 50 rwph and 50 rwtq for FREE. Incredible update !!!!!!!

I put my VEC1 on my heavily modded Ram pickup truck and gained 2 MPG with very little if any loss in performance. The VEC1 will work on just about any engine.
