As most of you know the V10 block is made here in the UK..
I sold a set of wheels to a a guy from Birmingham who is a still photographer and said he was in the factory taking pics of a new engine when he asked what it was for, He was told the new viper....7.0 V12
I did ask for a copy of the pics but he's not aloud to share them.....

Don't know how much truth there is in this..

I forgot.....

Dodge = Chrysler and Chrysler is a part of Daimler-Chrysler. So the engine could be for some other car.

Why would they put some other engine in the Viper?

Viper should have a V10. That may be old school thinking, now. If it makes more power I say do whatever it takes. If that means V12, so be it. Though 7.0L seems a bit too small, after all isn't the z06 7.0L?
I am confident enough in my manhood to drive a 8.0L/488 vs the SRT 8.3/505, and I suppose I could be seen in a 7L v12 Viper...
It's all speculation until it hits the showroom floor, or maybe an announcement at VOI?

I'd prefer a big v10 with a lot of potential than an engine of any size that is pushed to the max. It drives the eurotrash nuts that we ONLY push out 500HP out of such a huge engine... as if they can do the same with a 4 cylinder.

Unless there is some ***** running the viper program, I doubt it will ever differenciate from a V10 and I doubt it will ever be less than 8 liters in size either..it's what the viper is known for...put a v8 in it and its just another v8 muscle car...put a v12 4 cam and then its some high tech exotic....viper is all about brute force & big displacement.

I would expect that a V-12 is not in the works for Viper. Perhaps the v-12 is designed for installation into Mercedes, or maybe for the stretched Chrysler 300c or the proposed Imperial. Maybe even an optional engine for the rumored Firepower!

Our Vipers are all about torque. That is what makes them unique. Other engines can match the HP, but the effortless pull of the V-10 is what Viper owners crave. The unique power delivery of a huge V-10 in an inexpensive, understressed Viper motor is what Vipering is all about.

I could be wrong but,

Didnt DC loose copyrights to the name Viper in the UK? As I recall there is a small automotive manufacturer who uses that name. Which would be far more believable than the SRT getting a v12.

This is very true but the engines are made for export for the viper.

I doubt this engine is for the next Viper, as fairly solid info has this engine as an 8.4L MPI V-10. However, McLaren has been involved in a fair amount of engineering effort for SRT and I've heard that the gen V Viper will ride on a ZD platform which will be shared or at least share a large amount of components with the Mercedes/McLaren supercar and an upcoming Chrysler high end car (not the Firepower - more expensive than that). As for the next Viper, the ASC/McLaren Diamondback concept exhibited some ideas to be used in the gen IV Viper.
