Wanted to introduce myself here on the forum. Although I've been lurking for 10+ years, I've finally been able to purchase my dream car!

I picked up this beautiful 1998 GTS silver with blue stripes and 19,200 miles from Chicago. I drove it all the way back home to CT and what a ride it was. I've always loved Vipers and knew they get a lot of attention, but the amount is insane!

The car came with a 3" Corsa exhaust with high flow cats and I'll do a few more minor mods. Smooth tubes, high flow filters and 18" black wheels are most of them. Will post pics of the wheels after they're on.

I will be coming up to the show in Saratoga, NY on May 18th and look forward to seeing a bunch more vipers!

Feels good to set.............and achieve goals, doesn't it? :2tu:

At the gas station now...........
How fast have you had it?
Do you get a lot of tickets?
How much was it?
Can I take a picture of it? -most people don't ask, they just whip out their phone and snap a shot.
(most of our Vipers are probably all over that bookface thing and we don't even know about it)
How bad is the gas mileage?
What do you do to be able to afford that?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Vipers. -you'll love it. :headbang:

Looks great! I have also been lurking for almost 10 years without a Viper. :guilty:

Wow...I have to give you a ton of credit for driving that thing home. Unless I'm looking at a car that's within 200 miles, I start checking shipping fees. I might be too paranoid to own one of these things. :D

Very Nice! Where at in Chicago did you get it? I also purchased mine there and lived in the burbs of Chicago too.

Thanks all!

Indy Steve: I went to see the wizard on the way home to make an appt!
Lifeisgood: Yup! I've wanted a GTS since they came out! Wasn't quite old enough to drive back then! :)
Allan: I thought once I had a fast car I'd be early everywhere I went, instead I'm usually 20 minutes late because of questions like those. The attention has all been positive, so it's ok!
Fangs: bought her privately from the Chicago suburbs.
Although I won't drive it all the time, I'm not afraid of putting miles on it! The car drove for 3 days on the way back from Chicago with zero issues!

Tony: I'm in for 1st and 10 on Sunday morning! Will keep an eye on the other thread and respond over there!

3 Days??? I brought mine home from Des Moines to Toronto in one day, loved every mile :D

Stopped twice to visit family with the new ride! Erie, PA and Westchester, NY... And I took Monday off just to drive some more! Every mile was great!

Helo Steve,
The one question that you want to avoid is,.............
"Do you know how fast you were going?"

............followed by.........."License, registration, and proof of insurance please."

Great color combo! I've had mine for two years and started using it to market my business, Rapid Refill Ink & Toner. We park it in front of our store, let customers take pictures and sit in it, especially the kids. We spend alot of time answering questions about it. Even the Vette guys stop to check it out. :D

Nice car indeed, congrats on the acquisition.

The stock wheels don't look like 98's (they look like 96/97's), be sure to check 'em to know whether they're forged (good) or cast (not as good) before using them for hard cornering duty. The cast ones have been known to fail under track conditions. If you're gonna use the second set as primaries, then nevermind....just tryin' to keep you safe!

Paul: Great meeting you guys too. Definitely a good time. Happened to pass Jimmy with both of us in our vipers yesterday!

DrumrBoy: Thanks for the info! Although those wheels will never be driven on by me again (there are 10 year old PS2's on them) and I put the new wheels and tires on, how can I tell the difference for sure? Would like to know what I have.

Thanks, I checked them out after I got home from work and they are definitely the forged wheels!

I like the black wheels better too! ;)
