Hi All,
I went through with the purchase this last weekend on a 1994 Viper. I bought it in Las Vegas, had the local dodge dealer viper tech do an inspection and drove it home the next day. Thanks goes to to Marko of the Nevada VCA for assistance in finding a good viper tech. I wanted to get an extended warranty and was wondering if anyone on the list knew if the prices they quote you are all the same or if they were flexible. My car has 28k on the odo now and i was given a quote for the dodge added care extended warranty (4 year/60k mile/$100 deductible)at $3395
Anyone know if this is in line/ normal price etc?
The peace of mind would certainly be a comfort, I just didn't know if this is the current going price for this sort of warranty or not. I'll be posting some picts once I get em on the home computer.
Thanks,
-Bruce

I paid about what redsled paid...maybe a little less for my "added care plus"...that was about 2 years ago.......
I am not sure you can still get one for a 94...
I heard (on this board) that the last day for a 94 was 12/31/02.....Hope I am wrong for your sake.....
CONGRATS on the new snake....
You got the best year :)
If its red, you got the best of the best :)
Cheers,

Well Hell..
the price i posted was for added care.. not the added care plus (additional $500 they wanted for the plus). Dealer said they could definitely still warranty it though. I wonder what the deal is?? It was the dealership general manager i talked to about this, he said their prices come straight from dodge. Was the car under warranty when you added the extended warranty???
The price quotes for the 4 yr added care plus was $3195 for 200 deductible and $3795 for 100 deductible. This is frustrating.. I guess I'll wait for the contact info on other dealers and try then for prices?

P.S. the car is not red

Roadkill,
I have worked for car dealers for 20 years (mostly in parts dept) (non Chrysler) and let me tell you, there are big markups on ext. warrantees...
That is bs them telling you the price is straight from DC.
I dont have a problem with them making a profit, how else can they survive, but dont bs you....
I bought my ext warr from Fitzgarald Dodge, they advertize on this board....give them a call and see if they are still selling them.
Also beware, recently people are saying when they are going in to get ext. warr work done dc is telling them the warr is NOT valid. I have never needed to use mine yet, (knock on wood) but would be pi$$ed if that happened to me.
Too bad you bought the wrong color :)
ps. Where is Arcata?
Cheers,

Totally agree with Jonathan!!!

I paid $1500 for an added care plus w/$200 deductable for a 4/48 term in May of 2000 for my 94 RT. Major markup on warranties - SHOP around and save yourself some $$$. Talk with Tator Dodge (or other site sponsors)!!!

I paid $1500 for a 7 year max car for mine from Mike Robbins at Ringgold Dodge. Do a search on extended warranties... you can't go wrong with some of the bigger names on this board. Like someone mentioned, Chuck Tator would be a good source, too. And, I highly doubt that he would sell you an invalid warranty like the one that poor guy bought from Latham Dodge

Just wanted to say many thanks to all of you for the useful information posted here. I was able to get the extended warranty coverage i needed for my viper at over $800 less than originally quoted by the local dealer. I definitely would like to say Chuck Tator of Tator Dodge was EXTREMELY helpful, and that due to him, my local dealer dropped their prices to match. The only reason behind going with the local dealer being that they will be the ones doing the work if something were to go wrong.. If they would not have price matched, Tator Dodge would have definitely gotten my business. (my best phone conversation with any dealership bar none).
Photos coming soon, and to answer the prior question, Arcata is in true northern california. It's about 90 miles south of the Oregon border. It's funny when you hear people say they live in northern california and when in reality it is closer to central california.. (Bay area, Sacramento)-280 miles south of me.. I guess the term "central california" doesn't have the same coolness as the latter. I digress..

Thanks again to the list, and I hope to become somewhat of a regular here!

P.S. Just a F.Y.I. This is the last year to get your 1994's under extended warranties.. this is the common consensus of all Dodge Dealerships I've spoken to.
