I just bought a 99 RT/10 and have a few questions if anyone can help me out. I would like to know if these cars normally run hot?
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yes, but they vary. Also, where does your gauge read at & what is the temp outside where your at? A lot of vipers read to the right of the center hash mark.

This car gets up water temp. quickly and the fan is constanly going on. Do these cars normally have a low idle (400-500 rpm)?

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Yes, low idle.

It also sounds like it has a missfire that comes and goes during idle. What kind of horsepower can these motors handle in stock form? Can these motors handle boost in stock form and how much?

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

It can handle boost, there are a lot of aftermarker tuners that install superchargers & turbochargers as well as some DIY kits coming out, with a range of boost and hp #s.

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions.
Also, the car is black with tan leather. I really wanted black leather, but this is all I could find. If any one is interested in the tan leather interior and trim, I will be selling it off shortly unless someone would want to trade for the black interior. Does anybody know who is possibly selling a black interior or where I can find one besides the dealer?

Try the usual websites, the classifieds on this site, autotrader.com, cars.com, etc.

I dynoed the car just after I bought it and I was wondering if the numbers I got were normal for that year in stock trim. 408 horsepower and 454lbs of torque. Again, thanks in advance for any answers or advice.

Is the car totally stock? No K & N filters and smooth tubes? I'd say it's in the normal range if it is totally stock, maybe a bit on the lower end if it has mods?

Vipers are victims of psychological gauges, and you may find the car is running at it's normal range. By psychological guages, I refer to the fact that we, as humans, want our gauges to read straight up and down or straight across. This would correspond to your gauge showing a 190 degree temp, and Snakes usually run to the right of that , in the 210-220 range. This is normal ,but the right tilt makes alot of us concerned when we first get our cars. Two quick items to help with your concerns;

1. Put a bottle of Redline Water Wetter in your coolant recovery tank.
2. See Chuck Tator, as he is a well respected Old Fart, and even other Dealers like the old reprobate. Dang, Chuckie , your head gwanna be real big today, ha!!

PS - Chuck will treat you with respect and he is a fun guy.

Dan, your compression ratio is 9.6 to 1. And you luckily, though apparently unwittingly, bought the last model year Viper to come with forged pistons, so it should hold up very well under boost. Your dyno numbers are very good for a stock car as well. Search this forum and the performance modifications forum; they contain a wealth of information.
