North Texas owners - question for ya...

Two questions actually:

1) Mckinney Dodge - anyone have personal experience with them? Good/bad? Any info on them would be appreciated (Dixter I know you've mentioned them once yourself). If you have been there before for service of any kind, who was your advisor?

2) What are the penalties for not having your car inspected each year? My insurance agent told me with a wink that it's not a moving violation and isn't that big a deal (along the lines of a no front plate fine) but I wanted to make sure...


Have I mentioned that I had having to get my cars inspected? Sigh...

I don't have any experience with McKinney Dodge, but I have had only great service and help with Keith Laxson at Huffhines Dodge in Lewisville. He consistently goes above and beyond on the call of duty everytime I take my car in.

As far as inspection, you are playing the odds. I was stopped a few weeks ago, the officer definitely looked at my inspection and registration stickers, but didn't go to the front of the car to see that I didn't have a front plate.

The stickers don't bother me near as much as a front plate would.

I expect they'll always look...but do you know what the penalty is? Is it simply a fine or is it more serious than that since you may be "polluting the air" and all that...

McKinney Dodge is a very nice outfit. Keith at Huffines is the only one to service my car and is GREAT. Give him a call like the others said and tell him Kurt says "hi"!!

As far as I know there are these Viper dealers to choose from
here in Dallas... Preston Dodge, Lewisville, Grapevine and
Mckinney. They all sell/service Vipers...

Call one of them and ask to talk to the Viper Tech and ask
the Viper Tech for an appointment to have your car inspected.
He most likely will let you drive the car into the bay and
watch him work on the car while you wait. An inspection is
not that complicated and last's about 20 min. It should
not worry you at all.

As to the police giving you a ticket. You now own a very high
profile car in one of the worst towns for police... Richardson
is not a fun place to get picked on by the police, neither is
Plano for that matter. But if and when you do get that ticket
you will have to have it stickered or if and when you get the
second ticket and they notice you didn't get it fixed then they
will start to mess with you on other things... So the first
time you may only get a ticket for the inspection... the second
time you get a ticket for the inspection and no front tags and
it goes on from there.

Some say you just go to court and pay... the first ticket is
around $100, the second ticket is $200

been there, done that... and you will get stopped sooner or
later. I've been stopped two times this year just because the
police wanted to look at the car. They don't mess with you too
much, but always be nice to them when they do stop you.
