Hi Luis,

I'm assuming this is the one in Portland OR? I have not purchased from them, but I have checked out a couple of cars on their lot. I was interested in a Pantera that was listed as being in excellent condition and having many expensive upgrades, etc. When I looked it over, it was 100% stock except for some ugly wheels and was in marginal condition at best. When I set in it, the drivers seat fell backwards as it was not even bolted to the floor, so I don't think they do much validation of a vehicles condition before reselling it. They were asking $28K firm for it and it was probably worth $20 - $22K. I left disappointed. They do have many nice cars there, but I would suspect their ability to paint a true picture of a car they are selling over the phone.

Has the car shipped already? If it is still on their lot, I would be happy to swing by there tomorrow (Thursday) and take a quick look at it and let you know what I find if the inks not already dry on the deal. If you'd like me to do this let me know. I'd want to know what they have already disclosed about the condition of the car. I would also probably need to tell them that I was checking out the car on your behalf since it is already sold. Post here or you can reach me by email at [email protected] or call (503)620-5730

Glad I could help and welcome to the Viper community. Perhaps you can pay the favor forward to another viper owner if the opportunity comes up.

Luis,

I just spent about 1/2 hour going over your new car. I checked it over and started it up, but I did not get a chance to road test it because it was buried behind some other cars on the showroom floor.

I won't keep you in suspense, it looks to be in very good condition in my opinion and I would not hesitate to buy it myself if I was in the market.

Here are some notes I took.

Modifications - It is 100% stock with no signs of being tracked or otherwise abused. No apparent engine mods and exhaust is stock. None of the body panels show any odd gaps like the vehicle had been in an accident.

Paint - overall excellent condition for a '97. There is a couple of small 1/2" long scratches on the passenger door which go down to the primer. They should be easy to touch up and are not very noticeable. The underside of the front facia has the usual non-visible scrap marks, but they all do.

Tires/Rims - Very new looking stock size Pilot Sports. The rims are in fair condition. There are a couple of dings in the finish on the passenger side rims.

Brakes - Stock and appear to have normal wear on the rotors.

Interior - Overall in excellent condition. The ONLY thing I noted is a small wear spot on the bolster of the drivers seat where the black is worn off. That was the one defect that Bill Penny pointed out to me. Otherwise it looks as good as my '01

Engine compartment - Completely stock. Oil was clean, but recently replaced. Very clean in the engine compartment. No obvious oil leaks, but the lighting did not afford me a very good look. Brake fluid was slightly dark, but not bad.

Trunk compartment - Very pristine looking

Running the Engine - I started it up and it sounded fine. No obvious 'bad' sounds were coming out of it at least. Did make me want to get a lumpy cam for my creampuff though!

Electronics - I checked the lights, radio, etc and the ones I checked all worked fine.

As I said, I did not get a chance to drive it or check for oil leaks under it, but I did not see anything that raised a red flag. It looks like a Viper that someone took care of. I think you can sleep at least a little easier tonight.

Yves,
It could have been my yellow GTS on I-26. I'm the only one around here that I am aware of, but there may be others by now. I bought mine at the Dodge lot on Canyon. The one they have there now is a yellow RT10. Are you by chance the black RT10 with the large wing that I have seen on Hwy99 in Tigard? (which is where I live)
