The current group of Gen 2 Viper owners who bought their cars new probably paid somewhere near the area of 70k. Folks who can afford that sort of disposable money for what is arguably probably NOT their daily driver are likely very busy people. Their disposable income is a result of a job situation that requires enormous amounts of time on the job working very hard either for themselves or as a very highly skilled individual for others. If you are in that kind of a situation you may very well not have the TIME to drive it that much and you may live in a metropolitan area that would involve driving and leaving the car unnattended in areas that one might worry about leaving a NORMAL new car in. At least that's the case with me, I would not dream of leaving this car in downtown DC or Baltimore unattended while I conducted business, if I know I'm in the office or somewhere else and I can see the car out the window I'm good to go. I parked this car ONCE where I could not see it for 5 minutes in a DECENT area and the gas cap was gone when I got back. That was it for me, if I can't see the car I drive something else, it's not about collectibility or low mileage it's about keeping me out of jail if I come out and see someone messing with the car. As far as folks being scared of the car I really don't think that's the reason for turnover sales...that's another urban legend created by semiliterate EBay types wanting to impress potential bidders. I've seen that on Ebay as the reason for sale over and over, impresses the suckers I guess when you're looking for a bidder for that washed title florida car. Anyone who has enjoyed one of these cars for a while isn't scared of it, get used to it and you want MORE POWER.
