OBD II Light came on and staying on

I was out cruising yesterday and the OBD II light just popped on out of the blue. It is not blinking, just stays on. I have Belanger headers, VEC 3 and side pipes. I have had these mods since Dec. 06, never had this light come on before. Any thoughts guys?

The easiest thing is to take it to a parts place (autozone, etc) and have the codes checked. I had something similar a year ago which ended up being the O2 sensor heater. You can also buy a code reader fairly cheap.

Thanks, just got a email from CHUCK "The Best" Tator, and said it could be 65 different things (yep, Chuck replied to me on Sunday morning!).
My concern is is did you notice any change in driveability while this light was on? Any loss of power?

I did have some odd driveability issues when the car was cold due to the O2 sensor heater issue. Most were apparent before the light came on, when it must have been giving a less than desirable signal, but good enough to pass the OBD test. I believe it was running very lean on that bank, causing poor idle and exhaust spit (not pops). Headers and other performance improvements do impact the O2 sensor durability. That was why I brought that failure mode up from the "65" available.

If I remember correct, running lean reduces engine life, correct?

This is cold, closed loop operation. No real impact on engine life. The O2 sensor does not affect WOT fueling.

My 03 SRT is in the shop now for a check engine light. The code was because the skip-shift sensor was inoperable. I like having the 1-2 shift without issue but can't have the light on constantly in case anything else goes wrong. If you don't have driveability issues, look for the lockout to be inop. That might be your problem. I would definately check the code though.

You can get the code by cycling the key ON-ACC 3 times....the actual code (PXXXX) will pop up on the dash.

then disconnect the battery to clear it.

Just curious but where is the position of your secondary 02 sensors?? Check the wiring but before that check your for any blown fuses. ? I suspect you could have a blown fuse that is if you are also having trouble getting into reverse.
