OBDII Codes - 1488 & 1496 - Any Ideas????

[GALA-96-GTS]

I recently had my check engine light come on, and using my handy Roe Racing ODBII Code reader I found that I had the following error codes.

1488: AUX Output lower than 5V.
1496: 5V Output much lower than specification.

I tried searching the net for more information on what this means to me, but I was not able to find anything that helped.

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what the problem may be, and what I can do to fix it.

PS - I have had my 96 GTS for less than a month, and I know almost nothing about cars. I am grateful there is a place that people like me can go to learn new things. You guys are teaching me many things with your posts and I am very appreciative.

Had the same codes on my 96. It was battery. I put mine on a trickle charge when i am not using it and haven't seen it in a year and a half. If you use it frequently may not be a probelm.
