oil change & filter

What brand and type of oil/filter is best for the Viper and how many quarts does it require? I always have it done at the dealer but if there is a better oil for the Viper I would rather buy it and take it to the dealer for the next oil change. Thanks

You could get lots of debating answers on this, as people use all kinds of different things.

I'd say your owners manual probably recommends Mobil 1 however, most likely 10w30. I'd stick with that cause you can't go wrong.

As for the filter, I'd go with a Mopar filter or Mobil 1 also.

All supplies can be purchased at Walmart for the best price.

As for the amount of oil to use, trust your dipstick, every year is slightly different on the amount. Buy 10 quarts to be safe, but you may not need that many.

For the cost of two oil changes at the dealer you can by all the tools needed to change the oil yourself, including a jack.

The CURRENTLY recommended filter for 1992 thru 2006 Vipers is MOPAR #5037836AA.

This, by the way, is NOT the filter that is used on a 2008 Viper !!!!
