Since AutoArt did not respond to my e-mail inquiry about the gen 1/2 Vipers I got the bright idea to knock on GMP Diecast's door this morning and promptly got an answer this afternoon. I asked them about the 1:12 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C and Viper in various scales:
"Mr. Dierijck;
Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in GMP Products.
We look for customer input from people like yourself and like to know
there is a market out there to buy our products. The first and foremost
in making a GMP is to know if the market is saturated with this product
or will our cars sell. Once we know about this aspect, we then begin
the licensing process. Which really is the most important aspect of
making a product. If we get approval from the Manufacturer of the cars
and others involved with the car, we then begin to make developmental
progress.
At this point there may be thoughts of doing other Cobras, but until the
licensing has been secured, they don't discuss what the future plans
will be.
Same as true for all of the cars. Since we have just begun to make the
Chrysler products, it may be a while before you see some of the more
recent models as there are just too many of the older models that
haven't been made to jump to the new models. I know there are plans for
many of the muscle cars but when they may come out, that they don't let
us know at this point.
Just stay in touch with our web site and that is where announcements
will be made."
I would love to get the word out to as many people as possible so that we can flood them with requests, the more we send the sooner they might start thinking about producing the Vipers. I'm gonna register on various Cobra forums just for jiggles to see if I can get something going here.
GAWD I'm already drooling at the possible thought of a 1:12 version in their usual superb uberdetailed fashion
Come on guys! If we can get a hold of some high ranking people within DC we can get to work! Would father viper still be able to wave some influence?
