Anyone who can't see why someone would say "No" is a spoiled brat who has never worked to support himself. My parents are pretty well off and I could have worked at Dad's company just like you. I cut myself off from my parents when I was an intern making $800 a month. I worked my *** off and have pride in the fact that I can do well for myself.
When I was still an intern about three years ago, my Dad was in Vegas for a convention and told me to come by to see him. I can't count how many people asked me why I didn't stay back in Virginia and work with my Dad until it was time to turn the company over to someone. I said that I would rather live my life knowing that I was successful because of my hard work and determination, not because I happened to be born into a family that had money.
I'm sure you think that I'm a fool to have taken an internship for so little money. Every time I drive one of my cars, sit in front of my home theater, or take some high school or college buddies who are in town out to a fancy restaurant, I think about all the hard work that I went through to live the way I do and I take pride in what I did to get to where I am.
