Why would he do that? Like saying to a S/C car, "yea but it ain't stock." And? Nice pull "for a stocker".

Based on that Pull, either the K&N and smooooooth tubes added a bunch to the hp, or Lance's drive train loss is negligible (not possible) or the 415hp factory rating is low....hmmmmm

Congrats, great #s.

True or false?

96 RT/10s are the most powerful of Gen 1 cars. Not just rated 15 flywheel HP stronger, but more like 30 RWHP stronger? I have seen it posted here in years past. Something about a slightly different profile cam, not just the rear exhaust being responsible. Within 15 RWHP of 96 GTS cars?

Any VCA corporate dyno database on these cars?

I doubt the drivetrain loss is less than 10% loss.

So calculating a 10% drivetrain loss, that would put flywheel HP at about 440HP. 12% loss would give 450HP and 15% would yield 465HP.

It is very hard to believe K&Ns and Smooth Tubes add 25HP, or more?

My guess is that stated HP from DC is a guestimate.... just like the old 69 428 Cobra SCJ Mustangs.... stated HP from Ford was 335BHP...... everyone who has dynoed one has said actual is around 425BHP?

Or I could be lucky and just have a great platform from which to start!

Either way I am pleased by the #'s..... up next..... Corsa 3" cat-back and catalytic converter elimination.

Have a great weekend, I will!

Let us know what it increased to. I am betting you pull 410-415 because of the loss of cats and 3" catback. I am hoping to dyno in a month or two and the add on TB with 1.7 rockers. I would like to have 425+ to the wheels when I'm done.

Solid axle cars have more than 10% losses. A car with half shafts is going to be approx 15% new and 2-3 points higher when worn.

Mike,
What is TB.... is that throttle bodies? I was searching the internet yesterday to see if anyone markets bigger throttle bodies.
I also intend to go with 1.7 rockers... Crower sells a Viper set for $600? Why do the tuners charge $1,500??
BTW, I think we should start a new rumor that Black/Silver striped 1996 RT/10's are the fastest!!

Hey Lance,
Yep, TB=Throttle Bodies. I believe stock for the Gen I is 58mm and Gen II is 62mm. I have a set of stockers that were opened up to 62 to go along with the rockers. There are some who can do the port and polish on your stocker, but if they get too big, drivability becomes a concern. Most do not like the Crowers because they have a tendancy to shift off of the valve(not on a shaft). I plan to go with the Arrows($650 through BTR and Arrow racing). Most like the TD's, but I can't afford the $1800 cost.
