Well, it's official -- we're now a 2-Viper family! The new beastie should be here Saturday courtesy of the Woodhouse Express delivery service. In the meantime, I've been photoshopping a few wheel choices on the car. I'd love to hear some list opinions before making a choice; I've got a favorite, but it's not a strong favorite...

Congrats on the new addition. Every time you take one out, you will feel bad leaving the other one behind.

As far as wheel choice, I would go with the BBS LM.

Fikse -- it comes with stock 18" GTS wheels; they'll be coming off as soon as I figure out what's replacing them.

GTz -- the joy of having a Viper-driving wife is that we don't have to leave either Viper behind. One adult and one child per Viper works out just right

Personally, I like Fikse FM/5's.

Jim Fikse is great to deal with. Give him a call and tell him Mike sent ya. He personally helped me custom fit a set of wheels on my SlowC5. Highly recommended.

Disclaimer: I am just a happy Fikse customer.

If those are Fikse wheels in Fikse's post I would go with them. Look easier to clean too, if that is an issue. Great car; even more of a reason for many of us to envy you (other being many mods).

Ben -
I'm partial to the BBS ... A handful to clean but they look great and more authentic.

Now that you have your own racing team who decides which car to drive?… "Ketchup or Mustard tonight honey?"

Great Car, I wish you the best of luck and drive it safely.

Regards,
Doug

Ben,

The wheels in your last post look like CCW Wheels. You can see them at ccwheel.com - they are a good looking, strong wheel and at $2,500 for a set of 18's you can't beat the price.

I'm a big fan of the CCW wheels for track use -- I actually already have a set of their drag race wheels and a set of their roadrace wheels

Here's a picture of the Daytona with CCW street wheels for comparison with the others:

The other ones look like "Tuner car wheels" HMS, SVSi, Lingenfelter, people like that. The ones above look different and mean.

I like the HRE 540 and 545 wheels very much. They look similar to two of the wheels I've already photoshopped, however, so I didn't post them.

The main decision point for me is between the high-spoke-count BBS LM / HRE 540 wheel types and the low-spoke-count Kinesis K5 / HRE 545 wheels. At this point I'm 90% inclined to go with the high-spoke-count look because it matches the race car after which this Daytona model is patterned.

My favorites are the ones in these two posts: jimandela & fikseGTS. In fact if the $2500 cost is accurate, I would seriously consider those this winter for my autox wheels for next season. But, bottomline is you can't make a bad choice, with that sweet red beauty you got & the selection available - my, my, it's all good.

Dave.

Please bring it!! That would be over the top -- Daytona cars #1 & 2 at the same spot. I'll have my Nikon D1X, so we can get some really high-quality digital pictures. Now if we could only get XtremeBikini to show as well...

I have decided on, and ordered, the BBS wheels.

My vote: BBS LM..... It is a Daytona
smile.gif
, The BBS wheels on the "Real" Daytona are Center hub mounted, no lug nuts....

I like the dark centers on one of your options, but still have to vote for the BBS LM's as they really are "in character".

One thing to think about, maybe a set of Eibach springs to lower it a bit (1" +/-), another option would be Northwind Engineering low profile upper spring caps, which would lower the car 1/2".

BBS LM's it is

See the pictures of Peter's car for a much better idea of what they look like on the car.

As for lowering it -- I'd love the look, but see that black splitter on the front of the car? It already scrapes everywhere, even on our relatively smooth streets. Lowering the car wouldn't help matters...

Ben,

I have the BBS LM's for my '96. They are at Valaya Racing this week as I just ran the Spring Mountain Viper Days event. If you want to try them out for looks before you purchase, drive over there and have Ted put them on for a day or two.

Congrats, the car looks great!
