I didn't wanna hijack Slithrn's Startech thread, but Sheyster wrote "There is no way that car is making 800 HP (flywheel even) NA "

It got me wondering what the HP was for the Oreca Vipers. I thought they were pushing 750 or so.

About a year ago Caldwell was selling a motor left over from the DC-ORECA racing program. It made 804 hp on their engine dyno.

ORECA is still supporting Viper racing. Who builds their motors?

They made about 800hp, but the restrictor plates they were forced to use caused the power to be 640hp.

I think Sheyster was right in the sense that the comment was about a TNT car making 800 HP NA. I highly doubt that is a correct figure.

Are you limiting the HP to 488 cubic inches? Streetable motor operation? A few tuners make well over 700hp with stroker motors. Tuners can make a 488cubic inch 900hp motor but the reliability drops as well as drive ability.

I bet the Lingenfelter 540 package is dam close. The quote "725 HP / 740 lbs-ft torque", but John is notorious for UNDERRATING his packages. Very expensive at $38,500, but what an engine that would be....

P.S. - Does anyone know the sale price of the Caldwell Oreca motor was? Imagine that beast on the street!!
