Well I did it I let someone talk me out of my prisitne 94 RT/10 and he picked it up yesterday. Late that night we drove 300 miles to Jacksonville to pick up a 01 RT/10 that I had found on Autotrader. Got almost to JKS and had to pull into a rest area to get just a few hours of sleep. (3:50 a.m.-7:30 a.m. in a Toyota Corolla).....hey it had gas in it and would not use much more on the trip, but not the best car to catch some shut eye in. When the owner met us she looked great but the car threw up every red flag it the book. The bumper was pulled away at the bottom of the headlights, the hood was not lined up with the bumper, and to top it all off it had GTS emblems on the side of the hood. When I started to pop the hood she tried to stop me stating that "the Dodge place is the only people to know how to open and close." The real reason that I insisted on letting the hood up and down to see how it opens and closes. As I suspected the hood was crooked in reference to the front end of the car.
Long story short I should have never traveled to buy a car without runnoing a Carfax but I have had a very busy week. I called work and had someone there pull a carfax for me and it came back previous salvage title in Maryland and clean now in Florida. She acted so suprised when I told her and I felt a little sorry for her so I did not show my a$$. I got home called a Viper Dealer withing 400 miles and told him the story. He started laughing and informed me that I was the fifth person that she has lured into Jacksonville to buy this carjust this month. Here is a link to the add so That you want make the same mistke.

GCHDEALER- my local dealer should be getting a Red 02 RT/10 pretty soon, 1K miles. They are asking 60 for it. If you would like, I can inspect it for you. (going to inspect a 93 on saturday...)

What other states other than Texas and Florida seem to have a lot of title washes?

So if she has tried to dupe a few others, someone really needs to break it off in this gal shiester

Texas does not have a lot of title washes. Fla is notorious I know.

I have been told that Fl. is bad for Prowler salvage titles. The state should do something about it ....we have a "bad rap nation wide".

Re: Out with the old and in with the new (Well almost??).... REVISITED :)

Heads up...... this car is back on autotrader for 52K.

Owner (female) told me it was a clean title, mint condition, yadda yadda but here's the kicker...I couldn't get it inspected by a viper tech because there aren't any in Jacksonville. She did offer to have the car inspected by a mechanic she recommends and miraculously she could also have the car shipped lol.

And then I remembered reading this post..... God I love this site!

I wouldn't buy a Big Wheel out of Florida. Notorious for washed titles and the state could care less.

Rule number one ALWAYS run a carfax... well worth the money for the amount of time you would have saved (and gas).

It all depends on the person selling the car. I have bought plenty of classic and other vehicles in Florida with no issues.

I have brought cars in from other states and it is NOT easy to clear a blemished title. In fact, I had a 1973 Jenses Healy I bought in Florida.. took it to Georgia (where I attended college at the time). The Georgia DMV made an VIN error on their title (transposed two numbers)... it took me [******] near a year to get it corrected when I moved back to Florida even though I had a copy of the original Florida title!

Criminals just seem to flock to Florida.... keep that in mind.. it is not a matter of the State not caring!

Carfax is one of several indications of history and quality. Another, and usually much more telling, is get a dealer or tuner to have Dodge send you the Dodge service history report. Everything Dodge touches (almost - depends on dealer entries, but even my replacement gas cap, brake checks by dealer, initial buyer and dealer, title changes, etc.) are in there.
Then have a good tuner, body shop, or Viper Tech look at body parts, engine, transmission, suspension ( factory stickers where they should be, paint edges, etc. and under body bolts), factory coating, wrench marks, etc.
