I'm planning on taking a roadtrip from Arizona to northern California soon but keep getting hungup with concerns about leaving my Viper overnight at motels. Also, I plan on visiting a girlfriend in Stockton who lives in an average apartment complex, and I think to myself "there is no way I'd leave my car out in the parking lot".
Without sounding too neurotic....does anyone have any suggestions for taking your Viper for a trip and keeping it relatively safe without sleeping in it while heavily armed?

I did a search but didn't find much.

Thanks for your help,

you sound paranoid! I have taken my Viper(s) on several vacations and have never had a problem leaving it parked in any city, Canada or US. Maybe just lucky? I have parked overnight in some not so good areas but have only found that people seem to respect the car. Besides if it gets stolen thats what insurance is for!

For VOI5 we drove from Raleigh NC to Las Vegas NV. It was a BLAST! In fact, I'd love to do it again.

We spent 4 nights on the road - staying at hotels with and without covered parking. EVERY hotel we stayed at went out of thier way to be helpful to us. In Amarillo, the hotel manager found out who was parked under the canopy, and got them to move it, then called our room to have us move our car under there so they could watch it for us. Then, they washed and folded my car wash towels for me!

We washed the car every evening, and depending on where it was staying, we covered it with a car cover - mostly to keep the dust off of it.

Responses from everyone were positive = thumbs up from truck drivers, to kids in minivans, to fellow enthusiasts. Somehow, the Viper makes people want to take care of it - we had absolutely zero issues with anyone messing the car.

Take the trip - you'll enjoy every minute of it!

I've travelled a fair amount with the Viper and am always careful to park in an 'end' spot where there is good lighting. After that, I (mostly) don't worry about it. I'm more worried about door dings and other damage from carelss individuals then I am getting the car stolen. However, I don't like leaving the car overnight in public parking garages.

So far, I've had no problems although the side sills are getting dinged up from road debris and the front facia isn't as pristine as it used to be.

I agree with Janni, drive the car. Keep it parked in a well-lit spot in front, and keep it COVERED! Why have a Viper and be afraid to drive it? Besides I've heard the Viper causes girlfriends to become very amorous on isolated roads :LOL

Drive the car and enjoy it. Most Motels will accommodate your needs.

The apartment thing might bother me. Take her to a Motel.
