Anyone using the Performance friction compound 97 pads?
It will be for track use of up to 20 mins.
They tell me their pads are way better that my EBC yellows which are fading out once temps go up to 500-600 c on the fronts (although rated to 800). Claim they'll last longer too, American company, can anyone confirm how good they are please? Prices are not so good, but guess there's often a price to pay for good stuff!

Nadine,
We've used 97's on the rear of both our cars, and currently on Henry's race car. PFC is a good pad, they wear very well, are rotor friendly and definitely hold up to the heat. You MAY want to consider 01 compound front and 97 rear - that's what we've been the most successful with. I am still driving mine on the street but they are hellacious with brake dust. Took us a while to get to PCF, but have been happy with all their pads.

Nadine,

PFC is a major front-line player in friction compounds for racing and off-road industrial applications. Arguably, they are the best in the US. Pricey, but worth it.

So far, using EBC green on the street, Brakeman#3 and Porterfield R4 on the track, with the 40 mm rears, I'd keep front and rear pads the same compound. Without a proportioning valve like I have, a little grabbier rear pad will be... uh... a noticeable issue.

I use a grabbier pad on the rear with the OE's, in an attempt to try get a responce from the rears! With the 40mm's, no worrys I wouldn't consider it!

PS Thanks for all your recent help with the 40mm's, I'll be in contact soon.

Can I ask about a certain pad? I am in need of back brakes on my 96, and I got a set of Lucas/Girling pads. Any opinion on these?
