Okay, do all of you that have personal plates leave your cars on the road all year long? If I turn in plates am I surrendering that name or since I pay a yearly fee is that reserved? I did a search on NYs website and nothing. Figured Id throw it out on here before I deal with a "lovely" dmv person.

If you can just keep renewing them every year. May seem silly for a car you only drive five months out of the year but at least you know no one else will get your plates. :)

I can't recall, but I think that once you turn in a "custom" plate it get's "suspended" for either 6 months or a year.
