There is another thread "Please sign this petition!!!!" that I have posted. There have been almost 100 views in the last couple of hours with 16 signatures. It is an effort to explain to New Chrysler our passion. If you view that thread PLEASE SIGN IT. We have nothing to lose.

Some folks have posted that they would only sign it if it included a "Save Tator's" sentiment. I agree we should save Tator's but let's keep the two issues separate. We should post another petition thread for Chuck.

UPDATE. There have been over 500 views of the "Please sign this petition!!!!" and we now have over 60 signers. COME ON FOLKS - Please sign the other thread!!!! and tell everyone you know in the club to sign it. We have over 3500 members. We need everyone possible to sign it.

I signed the other petition thread, so I'm in. But curious... What makes that petition thread any different from what has been thread after thread talking about and discussing the future of the Viper, Chrysler and Tator's Dodge? An overwhelming majority of the posts in those threads supportive and suggestive of a desired future for all of the above, right?

A thread about a thread which is similar to other threads... great use of bandwidth! (much like this post) :D

So this post is what, thread to the 4th power? :headbang:

Really though, not dissing the concept, just curious of the motive. A petition thread is a neater and more compact method of accumulating the individual supporters if you're going to deliver this to someone, if that is the case.

dave6666,

Here's the difference - I think - my plan is to actually print the "Please sign this petition!!!!" thread and send it to New Chrysler management. The other threads that contain sentiments about the Viper or Tator's are too dispersed to have impact. There are dozens of threads that have posts about the long term future of the Viper and the shuttered dealers. Do you believe that New Chrysler management is reading all those posts? If I can get hundreds of signers, or thousands, it should have an impact. I hope, especially if I can say that these x hundred signers own x hundred Chrysler products, that management will recognize the significance of the Viper platform. What do we have to lose? Nothing as far as I can tell, so why not give it a shot?

The club has thousands of members, why? Because we love the car and enjoy each other's company and friendship. Heck, you're one of the most prolific posters on this site. If you throw your support behind this petition then many, many more people will sign it. Reach out to everyone you know and ask them to sign it. I'm doing just that.

I know the club's leadership has stated that they are working behind the scenes to insure the survival of the Viper but I felt the need to do something more. There is power in numbers, I've posted in other threads that the Mustang Club of America saved the Mustang through just such efforts. It was and still is their proudest moment and I've been a member of that club since 1984. So I think we have a chance to save the Viper and some dealers if we get the membership energized.

My 2 cents.

I will sign a petition to never buy another Chrysler Product as long as Fiat and the UAW are in charge.

Sell the Viper Name to another company and they continue on in the Viper Tradition, I'll buy a car from them.

TMan,

Your choice but remember it was Chrysler and those UAW workers that brought you the Viper in the first place. When we visited CAAP during VOI 10 I was very impressed with the commitment of the workers we met. The Vipers I have owned, a 98 R/T, an 03 SRT 10, an 06 SRT 10 Coupe, and an 08 SRT 10 have been awesome as have the numerous Jeeps I have owned. The US auto industry clearly has had its problems, mostly because the bean counters started to make all the product decisions. I don't want to drive some ordinary car.

I lived in Asia for 5 years and after returning to the US swore I would never buy a Japanese car again. I haven't. They don't play fair in terms of international commerce nor do most of our other trading partners, so the heck with them. I've posted about this in the "Buy American" thread. I will buy American whenever I can. If you want to give up on the US auto industry because management has proved time and time again they are incompetent then go ahead. I'm not ready to cede one more job to another country.

If only it were the Auto Workers in charge of the UAW. (I have got nothing against the workers themselves)

I am not saying I will buy foreign (well they are all foreign now) I have 4 Dodge Products in my driveway and was pretty close to pulling the trigger on a new Challenger. I just bought my kid a car... it was a Mustang. My first ford product since my 78 Ford P.U. back in 81.

Prolific poster? I've been promoted!

Well, I'm guessing that's a step up from post *****...

Back to the topic, I'd bet that someone out there is keeping an eye on the chatter of these forums. Both here and the Alley maybe. I mean, what better way for some corporate office dweeb to get a promotion than to blurt out a strategy plan that focuses on what we've been saying we want? Or some variation of that scenario.

nowhere to now here TM
Kind of weird but as a kid my dad worked for Fiat Motors of North America. He was a traveling parts rep, until Fiat pulled out of the US. I guess I am a little bitter with Fiat as my pops lost his job when they left the US after years of hard work and being away from the family on the road.

Does anyone remember their cars then, and why did they leave in the 80s? They were known as "Fix it again Tony". From what I have read not much has changed. So yes...Chrysler and Fiat is a merger of equals. Poor ratings from the consumers will continue, and what does Fiat really bring to the table.

In just 2004 Fiat was struggling to stay alive, now they merge with a failed US auto manufacturer. So I ask what can they do with the Viper...nothing we have the best it is going to get.

Let Viper die an honorable death. 7.22 Peace I am out.

dave6666, I clearly have poster envy. 9968 and counting, you are prolific (although Juli has you beat ;)). You bring up a good point maybe there is someone watching our posts besides the NSA. Hope so, then maybe Fiat will see how passionate most of us are about the car. I guess some of the rest are ready to throw in the towel which I have to say I just don't get. I love the Viper and want it to continue.

To those of you that have signed the "Please sign this petition!!!!" thread - Thank you. To those that haven't please consider doing so. We've had over a 1000 views of that thread in the last day and a half and we have, as of this posting, 119 signatures. I want to leave the thread open a few more days and then send it to the CEO of Fiat/New Chrysler. I'll also attempt a tally of the number of Chrysler products we own. I'm impressed and quite jealous of the number of cool cars some of you own. Please also reach out to anyone and everyone you know to sign the thread. I would send out a blast email to the entire club if I had the master mailing list but I don't so I'll ask that any of you that know how to reach other club members please do so.

Thanks.
