Last week I was traveling on business and was in an unfamiliar location and accidently ran a red light around 7 AM. It was still dark, but all at once the whole area flashed twice front and rear and suddenly I realized I was busted for running a red light. To keep this from happening again in case I run another light, etc, I wonder if any of that tag spray I see advertised works and is there any that you would recommend. Not trying to beat the law necessarily, but it was at the worst place in this city it could have been. I am usually a careful driver, no tickets since 1991.

I want something to keep the law from seeing me.

LOL - Not sure about the spray... just thought your post was humorous.

Pay more attention when you are driving and you won't have to worry about getting this "tag spray". If this happened when it was dark the red light should have really stuck out

IEATVETS - Seems like a pretty arrogant answer from you I would say. This is not the first time you have responded to my posts this way and quite frankly I am tired of your smart a-- answers. If you have a problem with me, I would be more than happy to take this off line with you. :evilmad:

I had the actual photoblocker tag on my Eclipse for about 4-5 years and then swapped it over to the Viper when I bought it. I was pulled over for it 3 times. The 1st 2 times I was able to pull the "oh I put it on for a carshow and forgot it, sorry" The last time cost me $90 :curse: Oh yeah, depending on the camera angle, it doesnt work anyway. I received a ticket in the mail along with a photo of my tag several months ago. This past weekend, I was talking to a cop and she lectured me about it and threatened to give me a ticket. It came off a couple days ago. My vote: Dont worry with it and just watch out for cameras out there ;)

There are two types of cameras. They use either a natural light or infrared flash. The frame type cover is for the the natural light flash. The photo-blocker spray is for the infrared type of camera.

I saw a test of these things once. The spray did not work at all, but the plate cover did a good job. It made the plate fuzzy when looking at it from an angle. When you are directly behind looking straight at the plates they were clear. I'd go with the plate cover, with the knowledge that the cops may hastle you about it.

Any attempt to obscure your plates is illegal. Cops may take affront.

To more accurately answer your question. I believe the spray is ineffective. TV Myth Busters did a show on it. Think it turned out to be like hairspray.

Yup. If you have to hide in scenarios like that, go for the plate cover.

I had a can of the photo blocker spray explode in my garage due to high summer heat. I tried to sue the manufacturer for the residual damage the explosion caused to two of my cars. I took some detailed pictures of the damaged areas, but the negatives came back blank and I had to drop the suit.

Shelby 3, I have to admit, that is a cool response! Thanks for the humor. It makes the day a little easier when you can get a laugh. :headbang:

It was a joke. There was a guy on the Alley who had posted about running a red light, being pulled over, not having insurance and no current tags. He was let go. Just made me think of his post.

No problem. I will have to go over there and look it up. Sounds funny.

Definitely no bragging on my incident. I was worried about getting t-boned on the left from exiting interstate traffic and then, viola, bright flashing lights looking like a lit up runway under the bridge and I was busted.

Realistically since photo tickets don't have points attached
and last I heard aren't submited to insurance companies as
moving violations you're best bet is just to pay it an be done.
Any attempt to modify the plate is not only illegal, but just
asking for bigger headaches down the road. Doing this to a
viper is akin to waving a "free dozen" coupon at dunkin donuts
out the window as you pass by a radar stop.

On the "sheet happens" meter this barely twitches the needle.

I just got one, the idiot in front of me dropped her frappachino or cell phone or whatever & slammed on the brakes in the middle of the turn & **** I get a ticket, the first picture shows yellow , the next shows red & busted just like that. The local lite from my office was the first installed in this city & made 175k$$ the first month in action! On left turns only. totally bogus.

They recently put these cameras in on our Roosevelt BLVD here in NE Philly. They are SUPPOSED to only issue citations when you enter on a red...if you enter the intersection on a yellow..they aer not supposed to photo you.
