This past weekend I attended the "Texas Viper Roundup" near Austin/San Marcos. It was a 3 day event, but I missed the first day (Friday) but was there Saturday and Sunday. We cruised the beautiful central TX hill country and Lake Travis, visited an old car museum, had three-digit mph fun runs on a tollway, had dinner at the Oasis restaurant, and had a private track day at a new 1.8 mile road course in San Marcos. My wife and I had an excellent time, the scenery (including the Vipers) was excellent, and the people were great.

I took about 100 photos, but here are a few of my favorites, there were about 40 Vipers in attendance, half of them were supercharged!

Tony,

Those are great and I look forward to seeing the remainder of them. I really need to learn to use my 30D I know it's underutilized at this point. I think everyone will be amazed at all the pics when we get them to a central location. How many days until we do it again?

Great pics. Again, love those white wheels on your car. I am thinking about buying another set of Sidewinders for track days and powdercoating them white.

It only takes the rabbit and he knows who he is getting an urge and this will happen every time. I can tell you that it happens almost every other weekend :)

Here is a link to a few of mine.

I had to shoot out of the window on the driving shots with my SLR, good thing I moved to the back of the pack.

I cant say enough about how well this weekend went. Main kudos to Ryan and Ashley for pulling this off. I know others had a hand in it and I thank them as well. It takes a lot to organize what we had and its deeply appreciated. Oh and I forgot to mention how good the BBQ on Friday was but the cook is always jaded. I still have a cooked brisket left over, you all didnt eat enough.

I use the same camera, if you want some tips I can get you pointed in the right direction. I shoot/write for a few GM magazines, and have learned some good tricks along the way.

I was a little confused about picture #10 at first...but then it hit me. These red ones had to pull over and wait for the rest of the group, because we all know the RED ones ARE the fastest :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Is the 30D really worth investing over the 10D model? I currently have a 10D and I haven't even got close mastering that camera. I was curious if it would be worth the investment or not for a 30d.

No no no!

Ryan's Gen 1 was in the front and the 5 red Vipers behind him were pushing him to his next hp upgrade!

I think that was when the red group got lost :D

I got phone calls all week from friends who saw us out on the road. People at work were asking my wife and I what was going on, they had seen 50 vipers blasting down the Highway over the weekend.

Nice pictures. I always like the view from the Oasis at sunset.

I've been downloading the trial for AfterEffects CS3 to see if it's worth upgrading.

I had to experiment with it so I thought I'd use a few of your pictures.

Here's the result. You have to push the button to make it start.

swimming2

Since they have bats flying from under the bridge in Austin, why couldn't they have the Vipers swim?

What a great event...My thanks to Ryan and the club for all their hard work.

The track was great, but the highlight for me was chasing Ben Keating down the mountain to the Oasis. This was one ride that my wife will never forget either. Sheer MADNESS!!

REALLY GLAD that you all had a good time. We are already talking about a get together in October around Viper days...

Pictures are still coming up and I should have the site up by later this week...along with a video this next weekend.

A couple of us went out to Harris Hill Road again this last weekend...didn't quite feel the same without 30 Vipers there ;)

Next Round Up can't come soon enough....

oh...and I heard a rumor of a law enforcement official clocking two red R/T 10's on a private 3 lane road doing 155...one of the plates said something like "want one", " need one" or something like that...good thing it was a private road ;)

Only takes me 2 hours to get to Round Rock...

I'm in!

Pretty lame around these parts, but you can count on me to add to the mix in my original home town of Austin.

Also, for the official Round Ups... Do you need a volunteer for better maps with gas stops? In color?

I only almost ran out of gas 3 times. On the way out to the car museum I noticed I was on empty, lots of 6th gear on the way out and back. The best stop was after the Oasis, notice I only took us to Shell stations, Bastrop and that night. We left the station after the Oasis and Jason T challenged me to a burnout contest. I’m sticking to that since it couldn’t have been a race challenge :)

gas stops were fine. How about that 1-bathroom stall that 70 people had to share. lol

Man, you got that right! Like Dave mentioined...many folks found alternative locations to relieve themselves.

I have a couple of funny pictures though of how we pretty much monopilized every possible parking spot whithin a 200yard radius of that 1-bathroom station :) Pictures are uploaded...we are now building the site to host them :)

Fun times
