"Lookin4asnake" GOT HIS SNAKE! I have sent several emails but received no reply to change my userID, any moderators that can help me??

Took the train from Richmond to Jersey to pick up my car.
Did the walk around, looked under are around everything, checked to see that evertything worked and found the tilt wheel mechanism was not holding the wheel in position (you could move the wheel up and down), so off came the steering column covers and bottom kick pad. Sprayed some penetrating oil on the shaft and kept working the heck out of it until the sping was able to push up the catches on its own. That took like 45 minutes. Get that done, pay my money, a hand shake and I'm off to Virginia.
Uneventful trip, several horn blowers, thumbs up givers, klingons and a toll lady that asked if it was a Corvette. I immediately shot her (no I didn't!).
Now here are some of my impressions, and if there is a FIX, please comment:

MAN the pedals are REALLY CLOSE together!
The Clutch pedal is higher than the others.
Felt like my head was going to hit the roof.

The Viper is WAY less comfortable than my Z-06, I felt like I was crippled when I arrived home after the 300+mile drive!
BUT - This car IS THE CAR!
Anyway, now I am a Viper owner, and it feels GREAT!!
Cheers!

I wear a size 13 and, so far, have taken them off when I drive the car. Lookin, where in Jersey did you buy the car?

I noticed to when I first got my GTS that the brake and gas were close enough together that it took a few miles to get comfortable.

I have smaller feet than you "sasquatch" guys! LOL!!!

Seemed like I was hitting 2 pedals at once sometimes!

Cheers!

I like the close peddles. Makes it easier for "heel n' toe."

There is an adjustment knob that moves the peddles forward and backwards if you want to stretch your legs out more.

I would "strech" the legs once and a while, but miss a dead pedal or some room tothe left of the clutch.

Does anyone have that "kit" that lowers the clutch pedal down to be in line with the others?

Thanks

Checkout www.RoeRacing.com for a link to lower your clutch pedal - costs $25.

Besides being close together, the pedals are also offset to the left, so that is also part of the reason you tend to come down between the pedals. I hit the brake a few times instead of the clutch when I first got mine. You'll get used to it.

Just a word of caution in case you didn't know....the wheels are polished aluminum on your car....not chrome. Don't make the mistake of using metal polish or chrome polish on them. These products are much to harsh for the clear coat on your wheels and can scratch them. Investigate Sal Zaino's products or use somethiing made for clear coat as you would your paint. Hope it's not too late. Pete the ex glass guy and hot rodder (red 98GTS)

The seat lowering kit comes from a company called Northwind. I had the 2" drop kit installed, and I fit in just fine at 6'4"(although I literally have to "extract" myself out of the car with both my arms!)
When you do the install I would suggest you put some type of spacer on the 2 front bolts so that you still get a bit of the "bucket seat" feel after the drop.

I also have the Roe clutch adjustment bar, and am very happy with it. Like you, I had a Vette before the Viper, and found that you get used to having no dead peddle pretty quickly. Just leave your foot flat on the floor. Once you have the Roe fix you will find it easier to get to the clutch in a hurry.

Have a blast!

Congrats on your new car! Unfortunately, the moderators can't change your forum name. Drop a note to Tony ( [email protected] ) and you should be set. Again, congrats!

I have size 14 shoes, I wore my regular cross trainers when I drove the Viper both times. I didn't have a problem at all. I haven't noticed the clutch being too high either. This is the first time I've heard of that complaint. I have hit the gas when on the brake in my Mazda hatchback a couple times, so I can say I've done that before. I didn't have any trouble with my height entering, exiting, sitting in, or driving the GTS, and I'm 6'1-6'2.

98 silver rt/10, excellent choice ;) We'll have to hook up next time I'm in Richmond (I'm from there and so I'm back in the area a lot).
