Looking for rear spoiler options for GTS.

I Like the the GT 2 wings and don't like the Hennessey rear spoiler. What are other options?
Which ones require holes through car and which don't?

Can anyone post pics of your "winged" car?

Thanks

Here's an example of what a street Viper looks like with a wing. It looks just as good as any of the choices.

I think wings on street cars are the ultimate poser mod; but, to each his own. They all look the same to me and just reflect what an individual thinks he wants to "say."

Here's a good thread with lots of pictures.

If you want a functional wing mine is for sale at a very reasonable price.

If you want a poser wing then get something else.

Thanks for posting but that wing looks like hell
I agree that car would look better if it didn't have one

Well put. The GTS was not made for them. A GTS/R is different.

Exactly ! Wings only look good on cars that are sporting a set of sponsorship decals ! They look "right" on a track car because they are not a poser mod there !

Thanks for the response please keep them comming.
I think they look great on the aggressive color cars yellow, red, blue.
They have to be properly worked in with the overall set up and design of the exterior. Track style wheels, slightly lowered,
interior roll bar ect. Under the right situation I think they look great.

I second the motion that wings on ANY type of streetcar look like ass. It doesn't matter how fast you think your car is - if various Vipers and other cars can go 200mph without them, you can, too.

I used Autoform; no drilling into the car- bolts into the 4 license plate holes and looks great!
Interesting approach, learned something new. Only question is are there any performance (speed or other) limitations with that mount?

Only if you consider a ton of compliments and 203 mph a limitation:drive:
In straight line performance, it will probably hurt your 1/4 mi times by up to 0.1, or so I have been told. I'll let someone here more educated than I explain the specific aerodynamics with it one there, but the downforce it creates equals more aerodynamic drag.

I have to disagree! The viper with the right package looks awesome with a wing. Take my 650r without a wing it just won't look right.

I like the wing, some don't thats fine. I always tell those people to make sure they don't put a wing on their viper then. Winged vipers need splitters

Hmmm... non-functional wings, stripes, loud exhaust - what's next, wheel spinners or a roof-mounted scoop?;)

Seriously, I'm all for customizing your car to suit your tastes, different strokes for different folks, and all that crap, but what I don't get is the hypocracy. If you see an Acura/Corvette/Mustang/whatever with all that **** added on, you roll your eyes (understandably so)! Do you see Ferrari/Porsche/Supra (ha!-it came with a wing) owners slapping these oversized wings on (I await the inevitable pic of said wings...)?

Lord knows, having come from Corvetteland, that I've seen over-accessorizing and bad taste more times than I cared to!

WING AWAY!!:bolt:

The original topic was not about opinions on wings. There have been many pro/con posts on this primarily aesthetic mod. The thread starter wanted pictures of GTS's with rear spoilers, and many have been happy to comply (on topic). I happen to like the spoiler on my particular car. I've had no issues/problems with the spoiler in the last 10 years and countless comments; mostly positive, but not all. Your certainly entitled to your opinion, although IMO off topic. Also off topic is the Mustang/Ferrari/etc. comparo; you are on a GTS discussion thread.

I will agree with your different strokes for different folks comment. That's for sure, and also what makes us unique as owners! :2tu:

I find the only wing I like is the Hennessey wing.

A properly adjusted wing should improve aerodynamics and smooth the cars passage through the air, not slow it down. The Mitsubishi VR4 has 2 active wings (they move into the airstream above 60mph) and their claim is that they add downforce while streamlining the airflow - no extra drag created.

thanks guys for the posts

Actually a well designed wing that is providing down force will
typically slow a car down. The car will ulimately be faster with out the down force but more "planted" and superior control at high speeds w/ rear wings and front splitters.

I agree though this rarley comes into play on a street car.

My company manufactures splitters and wings for the Nextel Cup
Car teams we also manufacture similar parts for the craftsman truck series.

I am not usually impressed with wings on the import cars. Having said that, I have seen RX Viper's car in person and it looks outstanding. The design fits very well with the overall look of the car.

If you (thread starter) are considering purchasing one I can give you an unbiased opinion that his looks great. ;)

But then, I also like loud exhaust and stripes, so what do I know????
