Here is the poll I have for those interested in helping me out:

I am looking to do modifications to my 05 SRT10 and these are the options you can do for best bang for the buck....so what would you do? (I already have a Paxton and Corsa Track exhaust)

A. Headers with hi flow cats
B. New Gears (not a Quaife) 3.73 with Hoosier A6's on rear
C. Throttle Body swap to X-Metal

If I somehow figured to do two of the above, what two would you pick and why?

Your help is appreciated - thanks.

Well I defiantely wouldnt do 3:73's. You'll never hook up. I did the Quaife with 3:33 and its perfect. I hear most arent even happy with 3:55's, 1st and 2nd gear are useless. Most of my races are at freeway speeds, the 3:33 seems to suit that nice and on a warm day, i can get my big 20" PS2's to still stick in 2nd gear.

I have the Xmetal Tb, not Im not sold on it. I installed it when I was N/A and left it on when I did the Paxton. Id definately go with headers, and a Quaife is a must. The stock rear end is junk in my opinion. The car seems to launch alot better with Quaife. I'll see how my 60fts compare when I go to the track soon.

Just to clarify, you don't care or are not sold on upgrading the throttle body?

And with swapping gears, i drove another car with 3.73 and it drove well with Hoosiers so I am pretty stoked about that. The quaife I am told is great but overkill unless you are really running over 1000 hp. Why wouldn't you put gears into the stock unit?

I have the XMetal Tb and I got nothing out of it. To me it was a waste of money. I picked up 1 hp on the dyno and lost 13 lb of Torque so you make that call. As for the gears I ran 3:73 on my pretty stock car and it was really fun to drive. A real rocket with all that torque. I just install a different diff with 3:55 from unitrak. Currently just breaking those in and see how I like them. If your not concerned about about gas mileage, and drive a lot of local areas the 3:73 is a fun gear. If you add a lot more HP you will need to go to a higher gear. Enjoy

The Quaife is awesome even N/A ... It launches straight, allows you to come off a corner a lot harder and won't fail. The stock diff is a piece of crap and is inconsistent at best. With a power adder it will die sooner rather than later.

I have 3.55's and I absolutely love them. Makes 6th actually useful at speeds below 90mph like all the way down to 65 or so.

I wouldn't do the x-metal until I didn't have anything else to do. Speaking from experience here.

I would do the headers. Good bang for the buck.

My rear end fell apart, lots of metal chunks in it. It was only laying down one leggers. I feared it would blow up very soon, especially since I added a paxton a few weeks ago, so I got the Quaife.

By no means is the Quaife a waste.
The Xmetal TB and smaller crank pulley got me 9 rwhp, I was told the crank pulley was good for 2-3hp, so the Xmetal TB only netted me about 7rwhp on a already modded N/A car. Not the 13-15 rwhp they were claiming. Still I bought it, it looks cool, it was on the car, so I never bothered switching back out to see the differeence on a Paxton car.

And as for gears, 3:55's or 3:73's would be fun on stock Viper or lightly modded 500rwhp car. Once you get the Paxton on it, it is just too much gear for it in my opinion. But to each their own.

Hey Mike, Glad to see you up and running with that Paxton. I added that TB with really no gain. I understand that dyno is not alwasy the true answer to what is going on. To many variables but less really sucked the big one. I am pretty much done with the mod thing for this year. I am in the process of putting on new wires Magancor but, the fit in the looms has a lot to be desired ( bad unprofessional fit) anyone who says they fit especially towards the rear of the motor needs to have glasses. I just put in a 3:55 gear set removing my 3:73 Just now breaking them in. When are you going to the track to run your car? would like to come by and see how it goes.

Great feedback so far......its all very useful.

Considering I do have the Paxton set up, I think the next step for me is the Headers.

Then maybe the Quaife with 3.55/3.73.

Is this the concensus in terms of seat of the pants bang for the buck when considering price?

My 05 Comm. Edition is S/C'd and I have 3:55's a absolutely love em! I feel they're the perfect gear ratio. Pulls VERY hard 2nd to 5th, and you just have to be a good manager of the throttle in 1st to 2nd gear. It's perfect for the open road with 6th gear very usable, and increased fuel mileage. I guess it's each to his own!

Did you do the Quaife or just replace stock rear end with new gears? How about bearings and seals?

I know a lot of people have said the stock rear end is not strong and I am trying to decipher if those with supercharged Vipers have had any problems when not switching to the Quaife which is more expensive.

I have 3.55's... removing them now because I am in a full motor build with twins...
Going back with the stocks gear ratio with a quaife...

A stock car with 3.55's is great...... With a paxton... just make sure you upgrade the tires and you will like it... PS2's aren't really sticky enough for the paxton with 3.55's.. so your better off with the hoosier..

3.73s would be way too much...

Are the stock rear ends strong enough to handle the 3:55 when a Paxton is mated up to it? I have heard mixed stories.
