This is the reply that I've received from someone wanting to purchase a Gen 2 ECU from me. Sounds like a scam to me and I'm not getting good vibes from it. What do you think? I say SCAM!

Good to hear from you and thanks for the mail.My client who said he's
interested in your ITEM has promised to be buying it and will be
issuing a certified cashier's check of $3,000 and you deduct the
amount of your ITEM which is $500 after which you will send the
difference via westernunion money transfer to my P.A,
to settle our shipper to book us for their cargo, come over to your
place to pick the ITEM up and get it transported.
To bring to your attention,It only takes (24HRS) for a certified
cashier's check to get cash in the US,so i will like you to get the
check cashed the same day it's presented on the counter and i will
also like to know if i can count on you to send the difference of
the money to my P.A as soon as the check get to you and verified. To
make things fast and convenient for the both of us,i will like you to
give me the exact name you want on the check.....Your mailing
address....(Street,City,State and zip code) and your Phone # so i
can forward it to my associate,so he could start with the
procurement of the check and won't mind to engage in a long lasting
bus siness relationship.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon,
Regard's,Hills

It's for sure a scam. I always write back to them (and the Nigerians) suggesting they perform a physically impossible act upon themselves.

Hey Jonathan - I got the EXACT same email, except for the prices, for the wing I'm selling. Glad you posted - now I know it's some sort of scam. I don't get it though...

Rich: The cashiers check is no good. It's good enough for the bank to accept it, but when they try to draw funds on it a day or two later, they see it a forgery. In the meantime you've sent the scumbag $2,500.

...I dont get it though...Rich

The 'certified check' you will recieve is a FAKE, and your bank will only find out after 2-3 days. They will likley cash it for you, but YOU will be liable for submitting a $3000 counterfeit/stolen check. You lose $3K to the bank, another $2500 to the scammer, and maybe the part. {Notice they are NOT in a hurry to get the part? Just the cash.}

The only thing 'long and lasting' about this will be the nightmare.....
