Posting for a Viper Owner in Germany who needs advice on bringing his stock 1995 R/T 10 into compliance for over the road licensing.

The major problems seem to be side exhaust, headlights, noise level...noting that he has already installed the rear fog light.

Any help from our fellow owners in that region will be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully, he will register and post here shortly.

Not sure what exactly the tail of that car looks like, no one ever posts pics of it! But I saw a Gen III being tested in Germany (YouTube), they ran the two exhausts straight out the rear through the opening just below the trunk. It looked awful but I guess it’s one of their rules that pipes have to exit in the very back.

Not sure of the light issue, didn’t Dodge make these for the German market? If so new light fixture. If not colored bulbs???

ETA There are several YouTube videos of a Gen I in Germany. I don’t see the difference in the lights Vs USA, but? Here are a few images of the exhaust exiting the center rear (on this particular car, which has been heavily modified to 1000 hp or so).

I have extensive experience with American cars, when I still lived in Germany. This fellow German is not in an enviable situation because the German TÜV (Technischer Überwachungs Verein) is ten times tougher than e.g. the NY State inspection.
Yes, he will have problems with sound, side exhaust, lighting and also pollution. The way I got my older cars inspected and approved was by declaring them "Historic". With historic cars they sometimes give you special permissions to register the car and put it on the road. After the Diesel scandal, the German licensing laws have become ridiculously strict also for gas cars. His only way to get his Viper on the road is by the so called "Einzelabnahme" (individual inspection and permission).
I hope he succeeds and wish him good luck.

Can you put a gen 2 exhaust system on a gen 1 directly or did they modify stuff to mount it? That seems like it could be an "easy" way to address that part at least. I know on the gen 1 there is an extra "foglight" switch on the console in front of the shifter that is meant for rear foglights. It's not connected for US cars, but was used for export. I believe it just turns on the rear tail lights, but am not sure what all might be involved to hook it back up. Guessing it's just a harness, but don't know much about it beyond the fact that there is a switch there already.

I do remember reading that the extra switch was for exports.
