Are you replacing the pump or the pulley? I replaced my pulley and I pulled out the pump and cut the old pulley off.

Go to harbor freight and buy a pulley remover cheap. Your old pulley will most likely break on the way off since most do. Then you have to cut the hub off so be prepared to do this. You can get a $15 air cutting tool from Hft too to cut the hub.
Good luck

I've used the HF puller on three Vipers and have not had a problems with pulleys breaking. Be sure that the tool is properly seated around the pulley hub, otherwise you can tear that lip off the pulley.

Which puller works best from HF? Or is it a kit that comes with several? I wonder if they sell the installation tool as well.

So what replacement pulley did you plan on fitting to the shaft? If you go for the Aluminum one from Ipsco you do not need any special tools to press it onto the shaft.

I used the same program at O'Reilly's when I just changed mine.

The problem I had with O'Reilly's rental program is they only let you keep the tool a pretty short time. I was not aware of that and they wanted to charge me full price because I brought it back too late. I usually go to Autozone, and they have no time limit as far as I know. That fits in better with my habit of forgetting stuff.

Just saying this to our readers to make sure that wherever you go, check on what their rental period is.

Just an update, Roe Racing PS pulley/bracket/overflow tube installed with Royal Purple synthetic fluid! BTW, If you do buy a "press on" type pulley like the Roe one, I would recommend lubing the puller/installer for the pulley real good before commencing this project. I would recommend buying a "thread on" type pulley if I had to do it again myself. It was a real PITA! I guess that is what you get for a $13 tool from HF :D. If you need to replace the O-rings on your compressor (which I did as well) this would be a ideal time to do so since the PS pump will be out of the way!
