Hey all,

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a 2000 GTS Coupe and I'm just about to book the PPI. I was wondering if there are any points of interest I should ask them to focus on. I know the tires are new, the fascia is mildly scuffed, the power steering pulley has been replaced, Quality Wires are installed on the car, and the owner seems to be quite a meticulous individual when it comes to caring for his cars. That being said, I still want to make sure I get a PPI that covers all of the major bullet points, especially from a mechanical perspective.

Thanks guys,
Johnny

You know its funny, I had a PPI checklist I was going to do on my Viper when I rolled up to the dealership that had it. I was going to walk if 1 little thing was wrong, but when I drove up and saw it I got weak in the knees, only time I've ever done that with a car lol. My Dad and me still joke about it that it could have been partially burned and I would have still taken it I was so in love lol...

Id go over it yourself first if possible using this checklist, then let the mechanics at her. Any of the bullet points that you don't know much about (cuz you're not an owner yet), just search on here and fill in the blanks in your mind. Especially the ones that sound expensive (engine parts, leaks, body).

John, why not ask if someone can look at this car with you? There are probably some Viper folks up near you (where?) that could help out.

Whats the difference between this one & the rt/10 one? Isn't this just pretty much a generic Viper checklist that would work for either one. jmo

Thanks, appreciate it.

I'd say 99.9% of this could be used for an rt/10. But, I've never owned an rt/10 so I didn't feel comfortable making a checklist for one. Id say everything would be the same except for any sportsbar/pad/trunk/back window issues? Right?

For RT/10, I'd include checking condition of the gaskets for rear glass and the hard and soft tops. Check condition of the soft top's material. If the protective caps were not put on the latches, they can wear a hole in the top. It would cost about $800 to replace the material on the soft top. Check to see if tonneau cover is present along with the fiberglass rod.

Hey CEJ, I'm always apprehensive to ask but if someone was willing to look at the car and was in the area, that'd be phenomenal. The car is in Montgomery, Alabama (listed in the classifieds section of this website actually - it's the only 2000 GTS for sale I believe)) so if anyone is willing / knows someone who is willing / knows the car in question, I'd appreciate any insights or information.

Thanks,
Johnny

Hey guys, does anyone know of a good Viper tech in Montgomery Alabama? I'm looking to get this car inspected and I want to make sure that a good set of eyes looks at her. The current owner recommended Brewbaker Dodge, Jeep, Infiniti (where he has had the car serviced).

Thanks,
Johnny
