Preparing for the dyno?

I'm thinking about putting my car on a dyno for the 1st time and was just wondering what precautions I should take? Should I have a leakdown and compression test done on the engine beforehand? Also, the car has 58k miles, am I in any real danger of something blowing up? I wanna dyno it, but I also dont want anything to break. Am I risking too much by putting it on the dyno? TIA

Your risking nothing. Just dyno it... Don't over rev it and you'll be A OK.

Do you floor it on the road?...no different on the dyno

A dyno is no different than if you were driving the car. As long as you don't over-rev, you will be fine.

I recently did 40 dyno pulls to 6250 RPM within 7 hours with no problems. Make sure they do the pull in 4th gear.
