After taking my '96 RT/10 (8865 miles) in for an oil change and some service I learned that I will need to replace my clutch (more precisely the pressure plate springs, but as I understand it, it's a whole assmebly) soon. It is my understanding that they wear from holding the clutch (like while waiting at a red light) and can in-turn cause damage to the pedal assembly due to the increased pedal effort.
Does anyone have any more information on this issue? I've searched the archives and couldn't find anything similar.
What sort of life are you guys seeing out of your clutch assemblies?
Is this a common problem and is there a stronger solution? 8800 miles doesn't seem like much to need a $900 clutch assembly.
Thanks,
Matt
