FYI... I just bought a red/silver stripes '06 cpe. The car has 3300 miles, ripper shifter, Corsa track exh. and best of all, a Quaiffe diff. I ran the car on "car fax", "autocheck" etc. All good.

I know this is a little exceptional but I paid,... $50 K.

At that price I am currently in negotiations with Jeff to build a "Street Serpent Coupe"! Yeehaaaa...:D
This is the car;

An 06 for $50k????????????? hard to believe not doubting but very hard to believe....

Interesting that the buyer does NOT respond with a post that says "gee, i don't know what to tell ya, I just went out and bought a car, everything checked out, and I think I got a good buy"; no, we get an an angry dissertation about how rich and successful the buyer is; that pretty much tells me all I need to know.

Most of the "Special Editions" are not going to hold much more value over the regular cars because they just made too many. The special editions that hit off are the one off colors like:

2006 VOI Coupe
2004 Mamba White

Other than those, there really are no other choices that are going to hold the most value unless you got lucky to get a rare color that was made BUT not many people ordered it AND people love it. Example would be the Yellow with Black Stripes Coupes, Orange with Black Stripe Coupes, etc. Being rare is only the first half of it. You have to find a color combo that is both rare and desired but people just did not think to order it.

Yes of course, just because only one yellow with silver stripes was made doesn't make it most valuable. It looks like ass and you'd be hard pressed to sell it.

Are you serious.....if you are, I am embarrased for you.....

So..... if I bought the car at a shiny dealer in a 'high rent" district from a "beautiful person" salesperson and posted that I paid $70k (for the exact same car) it would be cool?....Wait, you said you "wouldnt trust" what a dealer told you either. I had the car checked out at a dealership, "car fax"," auto chek", "dealer check", Performance by Joe, JMB Performance and Pauls Autoworks (Viper Body shop). Is there someone else that your " trusted source" might have checked? What is a "known" viper anyway?

I want to apologize in advance for what might be interpretted as arrogant statements. It is not my intention to sound like a JO but I would like to respond to Colovipers unsubstantiated...."statements".

Well......This is a perfect example of "talking out your asp"

First, The 06 Viper in question is one of three vipers I own; All I can "afford" are;

-01 "Diamond-back" Sapphire GTS 800= rwhp ( see posts above)
-01 Sapphire RT-10 with 7000 miles
-06 Red/silver stripe Coupe..Soon to have be the first "Street Serpent Coupe" With other options, wheels tires suspension...additional $20K That should make you happy $70 K for an 06...

-07 Sapphire GMC crew cab p/u
-03 BMW X5
-two car trailers (rollback and standard)

-Scat trac Dunebuggy
-two Kawasaki 4x4's
I use these vehicles at my second residence, my 800 acre farm (40 miles outside STL.) with two three BR. houses and six lakes (canoes, paddleboats etc)

-30 ft Douglass Skater offshore race catamaran, with two "punched out" mercury EFI SS outboards (Top speed-118 mph)
-28 ft. Premier pontoon boat with two 150 h.p. outboards
-two Kawasaki and one Sea Doo wet bike (3)
All these vessels are in their own slip, on lifts, at my third residence, a 6500 Sq. ft., 6 bedroom condo, overlooking the "Lake of the Ozarks".

I keep my cars at my main residence, on Benpak lifts, in my attached 5 car garage...

Best of all, I have the titles to everything. That means PAID FOR... I am 49 years old BTW

My grandfather, that founded the 60 year old Construction company I am now president of, had a saying...."Pennies make Dollars". My day starts at 3:30 a.m. and ends at about 6:30 pm. I work too hard to throw money away, especially if I can take the initiative to do some extra research on my own to find the "deals".

My car broker buddies explain it like this. What do you think happens to rep'd cars (not the ones snatched in the middle of the night) bankruptcy, divorce, estate sales etc, the good cars. There are sales (with Vipers) for vehicles that belonged to DC execs. Most of the reputable sales will give you the phone number to talk to the previous owner of the car. They are not all "shady". I "followed" this car for 6 mos. waiting for him to sell it. This car is an exceptional deal...one in a million, But I had to work to find it.

One last thing, where did you get all the info. about my car to make all your presumptions and statements? That is one helluva "trusted source" you use...

Again, My sincere apologies for the possible impression of arrogance from my previous statements. that was/is not my intention. Just proving a point..

That's nothing, I own:

(2) Ferrri 360's (1 coupe 1 spyder)
(1) Lamborghini Gallardo
(1) Lamborghini LP640 Spyder Versace edition (lucky Buy It Now on ebay on that one)
(1) Dodge Viper
(1) 80' Bluewater Yacht
(1) Bell helicopter
(1) skateboard

All the cars I drive around at my 2nd home - my private island just off of Antigua. The island is only 1 sq mile so I built a circle track around it, and race the cars around and around.

Every month I have to reverse direction otherwise I get un-even tire wear from turning right all the time.

My great grandmother founded the sex toy company I am now the janitor at (she was a woman ahead of her time) and my day runs from 5:45am - 2:30PM since I am usually too drunk by that point to continue any further.

That's okay though because she left it in her will that they can't fire me. My buddies all think I'm crazy for driving around the island in a circular fashion, but I don't care becaus I know this won't show up on the carfax.

OMG...Did you happen to read any of the preceding pages...any of my previous posts whereas I say essentially that... Look at the quote in the post directly above yours... Did you see my apology and explanation of my remarks in itallics? Did you read anything I wrote? I even used quotes...

I responded to some negative, unsubstantiated remarks about a car, that Coloviper knew nothing about, The source, again with no info, and lastly my personal ability to "afford" to own a Viper. Hell, there are guys on here that make my "list" look like a scratchpad.

My "angry dissertation"... If I go "alley" you'll know it...

This is ridiculous..... Hope every one has a good day

My thoughts exactly... I would/should be deciding which set of wheels to put on the car instead of dealing with jealous "pessimistic trolls"

I would like to offer a sincere apology to every one that has read this thread and my response to COLOVIPER. After reading my response, the next day, I am not comfortable with the impression it gives. Not sure why even responded to those ludicrous statements. The 'if that's all I can afford" from someone that doesn't 'have a clue" just set me off. However, thanks to every one that shared my excitement on a very rare find.

Thanks

Not sure why I even bother to respond here as the lynch mob has spoken. Glad all you guys feel real good about yourselves, setting me in "my place".

Not a troll but a proud viper owner of an 06' Coupe since new. Got a great deal too, exactly $19K off MRSP in the beginning of 06' winter. You wouldn't understand. It's a new thing.

If you actually read what I wrote, I never said I knew anything about the car or the buyer. Don't care about either one. Glad he got a good deal. He should turn around and sell it for the $68K to $70k they are going for.

I explained a situation that many who buy cars have been in before. If it is too good to be true, it usually is.

I accept no apologies because I took no offense. This is suppose to be an open forum. I have nothing more to say in this except, I hope you enjoy your Viper and it gives you many days of trouble free miles. I wish no ill regard to anyone. Why would I? Bottomline is I really don't care!
