Viper rolls
Enthusiast
Trying to gauge the market to sell my '05 Viper with less than 14k miles. It never made it to the track and I never abused it but I did get chances to drive it like it was intended at times.
The car had 4 miles on it when I took delivery in '04 and I love driving it on nice days. Bone stock except for I put the skip shift harness in and I've done my own oil changes. Except for new batteries, the only thing that ever broke was the audio player where someone jammed in an extra CD.
Otherwise, it's probably the best car I've owned in terms of problems or things breaking. Totally amazed by that. Ex-wife (I know, I should have never let her drive it out of a parking lot) just kissed a curb with the rear rim so I've got to have that repaired.
I've got all the original paperwork, lots of items that Dodge mailed to new owners, magazines featuring the car and some cool Dodge marketing material. All of that will go to the new owner. I hope I can find someone who really loves Vipers, who will really take care of it as well or better than I have. My plan is to get the next Viper hardtop offered in the future, setting it up for track duty. If they don't bring one back, I'll buy a track prepped car and hone my driving skills.
So if you are still with me, thanks.
What I'm trying to figure out is the prices people are getting for their cars.
I've been through the list of cars here which is cool but lots of the links are dead. I've looked at KBB, BlackBook - NADA and other pricing services. The asking prices on Craig's list seem mostly really high, I can't believe people are getting those numbers and guess they are either not motivated to sell them or they just start high.
I just want to sell mine, don't want to play a bunch of crazy games etc. I've got 2 garages of cars that I've bought and built and sold other cars to get these so I've got experience with all of it.
Anyone with advice or input on prices, places to sell a bone stock viper etc is appreciated. I've been in VCA for many years but have not done too much with it, unfortunately, I plan on doing some things while I still have the car and once I start tracking my new acquisition.
I've seen as low as $30k for high mileage modified, $40k for one with 8k miles and ugly (I think) interior. and asking prices all the way up to $50k for a similar car. Trade is $32k, a private sale is average of $36k.
If I could get $35k-$40k I would do the deal now, if it's less I'd accept a deal for it as a trade on something else I've been looking at.
'05 Red/Black
13.8k miles
Stock - no mods other than skip shift harness
Indoor car cover
Battery Tender (hardwired with plug in for power cord)
Various marketing materials & models from Dodge Marketing
No available options in late '04 when I got my '05
Thanks in advance!
